how about revisiting west’s best song? http://www.megaupload.com/?d=671WGG1D
I couldn’t open this file. Anyone else try to download?

I hope so too. Mermaid Avenue is a classic.
That photo of Hank is pretty creepy in that newspaper article. Doesn’t even look like him.He doesn’t have a cowboy hat on…perhaps that’s the difference?
LafayetteParticipantSame here, Parker. This record got me thru my Mom’s passing as well. I’m glad to see songs other than “Come On” and “Unsuffer Me” making the set lists as of late.
PDL…I LOVE “Wrap My Head Around That.” My husband is not much of a Lu fan but he gets a big kick out of that song, especially the “party favor” line. 😆
LafayetteParticipantGraeter’s = Delectable
Butch will have time to dig in–festivities end 15 minutes before show time.
LafayetteParticipantIke Gordon it is…and the program “recognized” Ike Gordon as an artist i.e. it populated from previous entries.

Mega page spreads devoted to Cincinnati’s Riverbend season including shows at PNC Pavillion, ala Amos & Lucinda 😀
According to the highlighted bullet next to the Lucinda Williams / Amos Lee show, concert goers will be treated to a “FREE Pre-show Cook Out (Cincinnati speak) provided by Blue Grass Quality Meats and Kroger at the Time Warner Cable Party Plaza.”
We could very well run into Butch sampling the goods…
Ha, Ha Very clever of you Lafayette remembering Butch’s gourmet hot dog video in the tour bus.
Two things to note.
1. Don’t forget to clip the $1.00 off coupon for Blue Grass Quality Meats.
2. The Cook Out starts 1 & 1/2 hours before Amos takes to the stage and Butch may be in the middle of a sound check, So if he can’t make it, you could perhaps bring him a take out. 😆lwj
Not to mention Butch signed tnt’s drum head … “Butch Eats Meat”
You’re one up on me on the added info about the “cook out” (I always get razzed by my Northeast friends when I tell them we are “cooking out.” One is completely mortified I don’t say BBQ. 😆
Did you find the bonus info on Riverbend’s site?
LafayetteParticipantI’ve been updating Lu’s setlists on setlist.com and am having trouble deciding the artist to give credit to the song since there are purported mulitple artists taking credit. Suggestions, anyone?

The song Don’t Let The Devil Ride is one of those songs from gospel/blues history that has many many different versions that are variations on a basic theme and as a result many different writers take credit for it’s origin. The one that Lucinda heard is written by Ike Gordon and is on disc 3 of a 3 cd gospel/blues compilation called Fire in My Bones: Raw Rare + Otherworldly African-American Gospel (1944-2007). In fact there two versions on this record–on disc 1 the Mississippi NIghtingales do a song called Don’t Let Him Ride.

A writeup about this very record. You can hear Ike’s version on embedded player following article.
LafayetteParticipantI found another article about this project invariably leading me to an archived article about the death of Hank Williams.

LafayetteParticipantAwesome! Lu is getting quite the nods from Rolling Stone lately. Perhaps getting her foot in the door for induction into RNR HOF? How cool would that be?!

LafayetteParticipantOH, very cool…Caroline made it!
LafayetteParticipantI,too, love the backstory on the book and the song as well as your response to the unhappy fan. I hope he read it and walked away with a better understanding of the night’s events and less of a chip on his shoulder.
“Where Is My Love” made the setlist?? Very cool, even if it was scratched. That song was on my wish list of seldom heard songs.
LafayetteParticipantToo bad, lwj. Farm Aid is scheduling extreme temperature shows. Last year very cold in Milwaukee in October and I would bet very hot in KC in August. I personally prefer hot weather over cold.
jM abroad…it’s been a long time coming for those fans.
LafayetteParticipantJames McMurtry was given his break into the biz by Mr.Mellencamp after his father, Larry McMurtry, handed John a demo tape while they were filming ” Falling From Grace” John produced James first record, recorded at John’s studio, Belmont Mall, near Nashville, IN. The rest is history. I!m not sure on timeline of David playing first with James or vice versa.
TNT…I noticed the Townes Van Zandt reference in the photo. It was out of left field.
