I was hoping that St. Louis date would work for me, however, that’s the night before AMA awards show and subsequent additional night for showcases. Too many nights away from the roost.

    C’mon Columbus, OH!

Saw old video footage of The Grateful Dead’s appearance at early Farm Aid show this past weekend. They were using old clips to fill in the *dead* time.

Facebook comments in regards to this show look to be very forgiving about the rough start. Two thumbs up.

@Stoger I knew there was a reason I didn’t attend this show, and that whole * there is no currently no physical address to the Great Park. Please do not rely on GPS* thing just verified as such. 😆

I can say almost definitely there will not be a Lucinda show in Nashville during the AMA’s. I would put the chance at about 1 %.

Not very good odds. I’ll have to squeeze in a road trip and with all the cities you mentioned it looks like one or two will work. 😀

Don Henley’s shows are typically not cheap. I checked another show of his on sale and the “upper rent” seats were $189.

I just received JM’s e-mail on the new Fall tour.

Boy Lafayette, I have 2 choices to see John.
Oct. 28 in London, ON ( my home town ) + Amos in Toronto, ON on October 27th
Or October 29 in Hamilton, ON ( only a 45 minute drive for me.)
How’s the gossip news these days about John and Meg Ryan?
Are you stll travelling to Kansas City for Farm Aid next month?

    lwj

I would be very tempted to drive up and catch both JM & Amos however I’ve opted to attend the AMA awards instead.

Paparazzi following JM & Meg everywhere…

I’m headed to Farm Aid in a few weeks. Not thrilled about the lineup but this event is more about supporting Farm Aid and the farmers.

I was doing a search the other evening on Lu on twitter and Emmabo’s tweets had the magic keywords “Lucinda Williams.” I pulled it up the night of the Macon show. Another professor in the ranks and if there is truth in her “about me” she is a self-described poet as well. She lives in Georgetown, KY so I’m guessing she is a professor at the University of Kentucky. Great blog — and she linked to it on her twitter feed.

Good job lwj. Someone must have gone rogue with video recording. 😉 Good recording, but I dont think those are official. 😮

The one new song I liked, from set list and video recording is “Skin and Bones” and it looks like I didn’t have my ears tuned in quite right as the other new song is “The Arrow Killed The Beast,” according to Mercury Lounge setlist…not “The Arrow and the Beast.” 😆

I made the ‘secret’ show with minutes to spare after hoofing it across campus from the studio, where I thought the show was scheduled. The station is trying to expand its events across campus and utilized the student union buildin. Will teach me to read my emails more thoroughly. 😮

The show was actually broadcast on the station (I should have guessed) as a question and answer sesssion with performances inbetween. Erika took the stage, along with her band sans drummer– therefore the acoustic show billing– in an ivory tank top, daisy duke shorts, turquoise necklace, wedge heels. It was very hot Wednesday, my car thermometer registering 102 degrees at various points on my 40 minute drive, but averaging a cool 98 degrees for most of the duration of the trip.

Videotaping was not allowed but still photos with no flash was allowed. I will post a few shortly. The station was filming the show. I suspect videos will pop up of select songs on WNKU’s YouTube channel along with some sort of podcast, either in full or snippets.

Erika talked about her move to Austin (four years now), how she has been listening to country music more since her move, gravitating toward Ray Price. The new album has been recorded with an expected release date beginning first of year. The working title at present is “Arrow.” They are doing a short run of shows to play the new material. She said their van just turned over 200,000 miles .

She played several new songs — “The Arrow and The Beast” and another I forgot to write title down but really liked —something about bare bones.

They are recording a soundtrack for a movie and after this short run of shows are returning to work on it.

She said at one point she will always consider Cincinnati home and it was good to be back.

The Skyline chili question came up, a Cincinnati favorite, and she said her guitar player took a picture of a cheese coney earlier in the day with his phone, posted it to FB and had 15 comments about the post. 🙂

The broadcast was 45 minutes in length.

I spoke to Erika afterwards but only briefly. I told her I actually discovered her on Lu’s forums and had bumped into her at Lu’s wedding (even with her being a local band at one time 😳 ). I had people waiting behind me so I left it at that.

Great opportunity to see her and the band — with no one chatting during songs!
