Oh, I long to come to NYC. I was this close [ ] but realized I promised my brother a visit to see him in Chicago the weekend prior.
Oh, but NYC would be sooooo easy, no changing hotels, no travelling between shows, etc. PLUS, that week is a milestone birthday for moi. You need to be there. Perhaps check to see if your bro even remembers your promise? 🙂
Oh, he remembers… 😮
I would love to help you celebrate your birthday! Dang, I’m overbooked that week, actually. Trip to Chicago for the weekend and then we have tickets for Train on Wednesday and then a friend comes in from PA on Thursday for a show with her numero uno…so coming up to NYC would be overwhelming.
One day the Four Horsemen stars will align again…

Greetings, everyone, from the second sunniest city in America, “where the sun shines 88% of the time.” Do tell. I’d go for a 12% day, but at least there’s no Tennessee humidity in the air. . . .
Been to Heavenly Donuts twice already. More cultural/artistic narratives to follow. Could somebody who’s coming review and update any plans for drinks or dinner prior to show?
Well, my buddy and his wife and another couple will be at Gironda’s at 5:30 p.m. if no one else comes forth with pre show dinner plans. He usually is dressed in a Hawaiian shirt and wears a fedora .
Gironda’s, according to website, is Chicago style Italian. I told him to be on the lookout for you if you so choose. I forwarded our photo op outside First Avenue before Lu & Tom’s wedding.
LafayetteParticipantMy buddy Stoll has been revamping with a new band and recording a new record. He’s been playing Live at Ventura Blvd (free booze YAY!) on Friday evenings. Last week Duane Betts and Waylon Rector sat in on a few songs. This performance just wails…WAILS.
LafayetteParticipantLooking forward to set list and details. Ma & Pa Kettle will be doing preshow at Girondas. I hear they have a good selection of food. 😀

Very true, Lafayette.. Catching Lu at the house of blues NO and stubbs austin last year
(and a bunch in b’tween) was the best concert attending year of my LIFE!Definitely try to string a few sows together and take advantage of the trip..
Following her up to the Vancouver Folk festival, and that may be about it for this year..How about you?
Perhaps catching a show or two as they head east ??(Not sure of the name of it, but there’s a very cool looking old school steak house in Redding
we’re going pre-show.. I’ll find it again and post..)Just posted in a different thread. The Cincinnati (Covington) show is my hometown, so to speak, but returning on a late flight from vacation and hoping I can catch Lu’s set. If my flight lands on time, I should be good to go. My husband is dropping me off at the venue and I’m catching a ride home with THE stoger. Then stoger and I are proceeding to Nelsonville, and I’m hoping I have enough energy to make it to Pittsburgh. Will be a first for me to do 3 Lu shows in a row. Would love to fly to NYC but not in the cards.

Thank you for the heads up, Paul. Just got my tix for all 4 NYC shows. 🙂

Motivated now to make three in a row. Covington, Nelsonville, Pittsburgh.
LafayetteParticipantWhat a great way to kick off 2013. 😀
Thanks for the ‘inside info’, TO.

Hi all,
Anyone know if this show is full band? Or not.
thx
I believe all of Lu’s scheduled shows will be full band.
LafayetteParticipantI love concert reports – spectacular, horrible or indifferent. Thanks for the report, Tony. Good to know Doug will be hooking up with Lu.
Carry on, California road warrior.

I can’t believe I know this w/o doing any research as I have never, ever played the video game “Rock Band 3” (I guess I have seen enough of it on display in stores to recognize it), but it is from that video game, on “Expert Mode”, playing, of course, Lu’s “Can’t Let Go”. Someone must have recording their “playing” of this song & posted it on YouTube…

Aha…thanks, Tom, for clearing the air. I should know these things with the kid who loves most things video, however, he is not into “Rock Band.” 😮
LafayetteParticipantSamishSeaMike, you always make a nice road trip around Lu shows, so it seems. 😀
My friend has front row center seats in the balcony. Let me know if a preshow is planned, perhaps he and his wife can drop in for drinks before or after dinner. There’s no doubt in my mind he will fit right in with the Lu gang.

Set List: Glen Campbell @ The Hollywood Bowl with Lucinda Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Jackson Browne &
Glen Campbell isn’t quite finished with his final tour, but he did perform his last concert in the Los Angeles area on Sunday night at the Hollywood Bowl. According to most reports, those in the crowd would never know that he was suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease from his singing and, especially, his guitar playing throughout the night with only slight lapses between numbers.
The evening was not just a Campbell concert, as a number of stars performed during the first set in salute to jos long and illustrious career, both as a singer and as a session man in the Wrecking Crew. Courtney Taylor-Taylor of the Dandy Warhols, Lucinda Williams, Kris Kristofferson, Jenny Lewis and Jackson Browne stayed far away from the songs that Glen would be performing later in the evening, sticking with some of his more obscure hits along with songs on which he played guitar during the early and mid-60’s.
The L.A. country group Dawes acted as the house band for the evening. Cambell used his own band which included two of his daughters, who also gave their father a break mid-show, and his son on drums.
