    Good read, Lefty.

I wonder when this woman has time to sleep between her music, her boutique, cooking and entertaining, and writing a blog. I just subscribed to her blog and interested in trying her Zucchini Cheddar Bread recipe. 🙂

    TO,

You can go straight to the source – The Poetry Center of Chicago. I found it by googling ‘Lucinda Miller Williams print’ and ticking ‘images.’ There is a phone number listed for the center to call. Scroll down the web store to find an image of the print. Exactly as you described.

    Miller Williams | Lucinda Williams
    Poem for Emily | Blue

A first of its kind tandem broadside featuring father and daughter nationally renowned poet Miller Williams and Grammy Award-winning songwriter Lucinda Williams. This is Lucinda Williams first poetry broadside. Only one-hundred of these broadsides were printed. The very few of these that remain are available for purchase by calling The Poetry Center.

Visual Artist: Rocket, a.k.a. Kevin Bradley
Design: Kevin Bradley and KC Clarke

This is a hand set two color letterpress broadside

Finally, never know who will react when one wears Lucinda merch in public. At the Film Fest, I was hailed by a guy named Robert Ledbetter, from Arkansas, who turned out to be an actor in a different film that night, also author of a book about Nathan B Forrest. I was skeptical, but Square Books had it in stock. He said he used to hang with Lu, and dedicated the first printing of that book to her and Steve Earle! No evidenc with the current edition, though Steve Earle does blurb it favorably on the inside flyleaf. Small world.

    Six degrees of separation, much?

Lu’s memoirs will truly be a fascinating read.

Great report, tnt! The one song about her alchoholic friend tugs at my heartstrings.

The closest she gets to me is Indianapolis and I’m not sure the date works for me.

Great article! I wish she was stopping in my area on this tour.

I’ve seen her once (open for Amos Lee in Nashville!) and would have seen her twice had I not been outside the venue trying to sell some extra tickets (after I upgraded to better seats :D) where she opened as a one off type thing for a Mellencamp show (he performed Trouble No More in its’ entirety, including ‘Lafayette’ :!:, in 2003, the year her first record was released. I found a photo on her Flickr site from the show (with Mellencamp drums behind her).

The new record is stellar. Hopefully, tnt will post a show report. 😛

40+ year photo of Bob Dylan by Harry Sandler [was Mellencamp’s tour manager for many years and a great photographer]. He’s rolling out an updated website/blog/gallery and this one was just posted a few days ago.

Anything for you, stoger. 😉 ALMOST anything.

I was listening to a WNKU feature a few weeks ago, ‘Wednesday Premieres,’ and a few of the tracks from Jamey’s Hank Cochran tribute album were featured. I missed, however, it was nominated for a Grammy. To the contrary, I did not miss Lillie Mae’s front and off center, on my screen performance with Jack Black. She has such an interesting back story and quite the accomplished fiddle player at the tender age of 21.

Yes, “I Need Protection” (or “Protection,” as Lu introduced it a time or two) has been played maybe 3-4 times in my hearing, though that Dakota version is a nice reprise. And the title city song for night six, my my.

Lafayette, can I link to one place with all the Dakota set lists?

I’ll start a thread for you and link them all.

Believe she played it here I met you in Redding and then again in Vancouver where we were both in attendance as I recall..

    Could be wrong though.
    Great song.

Yes, I did a quick google search and you are correct – I Need Protection [the title evolved] was played both in Redding & Vancouver.
