Speaking of Mr. Younger, we’re trying to coordinate a girls weekend in Nashville and contacted him with hopes he would be playing a gig. He just replied this evening with a nada but told us to reach out to him when we visit.

I’ll be more than happy to pick you up an AP EP. IF I don’t make the Pleasant Plain show, I will most certainly make it to Southgate House.

Busy as a bee. A HoneyBee.

I often wondered what happened with the Nashville series.

Angela is absolutely amazing and I know each and every one of my Lu friends will love her once they hear her live. The more I read about her, the more I love. She is a sweetheart, too. I approached her after the last show, told her I loved her stuff, I volunteered at WNKU (although it has been a year or so since I’ve been in touch) and told her I would love to pass along one of her EP’s to JP (I had searched WNKU’s site, aghast they haven’t spun any Angela Perley.) She told me she had someone working the radio stations and she thought they had sent something in December to WNKU. I’m going to try my best to get this girl some spins. In our talk, I mentioned I saw her with Stoll in Lexington in December. I was shocked the following day when I had a facebook friend request from her. I guess she tracked me down somehow through Stoll. A recent photo of Angela with a saw traipsing through a hotel was featured on her facebook page and I immediately thought of Amos Lee. I specifically remember him posting on his page for an experienced saw player (featured on one song on “As The Crow Flies.”)

lwj, I would be happy to pick up an EP for you and have her sign it. I hope to see her at two upcoming shows. On April 27 she plays in Pleasant Plain, OH at a new coffee house (converted church) and then the Southgate Show where she opens for a band I saw her with last month.

She is a must see. I still can’t believe WNKU hasn’t picked her up. She had to have fallen through the cracks.

04.02.2013 – Mack, Jack & McConaughey (MJ&M), the joint fundraising effort of actor Matthew McConaughey, recording artist Jack Ingram, and Texas head football coach Mack Brown, announced today that Grammy Award-winning artist John Mellencamp will headline its Gala Night on April 11, 2013 as part of MJ&M’s inaugural, two-day event in Austin, Texas. Opening for John Mellencamp will be Austin’s very own Dale Watson.

So, Ms. Lafayette are you heading down to Austin ?

This thread on JM was getting a bit dusty so I thought I would post this before Lefty makes his annual contribution to the thread. 😆

Yes! Thank goodness for frequent flyer miles and sharing hotel room with friends. Unfortunately, a small disappointing hiccup has occurred. We purchased GA standing room tickets on the floor. We were puzzled a benefit show would have such an arrangement as the VIP tables were positioned on the mezzanine level. Tickets went on sale weeks ago. We were just notified, via email, they were reassigning our tickets to the mezzanine level based on time stamp of purchase. I assume the VIPs will be placed on the floor. We were miffed but what’s a super fan to do? Roll with the punches. Life is too short. The good news is I can take more time exploring Austin (inaugural trip!) and less time standing in line to be up front. My visit will be 2 days.

Jeez, that was last October and only twenty minutes from my house. I need to get in the loop.

Check in every now and then – always something happening with Lu. 🙂

I’ve yet to make it through the doors of the newly opened Southgate Revival House. 😯 Buddy and Jim played there last week but I couldn’t make it. Hopefully, I can make it for Chuck, as well as for Angela Perley, who is fast becoming my favorite live indie band to catch.

WNKU absolutely loves Chuck. I would bet my last dollar he will stop for an On Air.

It’s in the archives, lwj. Thanks for the gentle nudge as it wouldn’t have occurred to me to document radio shows.

Edit: I thought “Mama, You Sweet” made its way into the Dallas, TX set list along with “Fancy Funeral.” I’m not sure what I’ve been smoking but I was incorrect after checking setlist.fm and the glorious “Show” thread. I see no “Mama, You Sweet. “
After checking the 308 set lists that have been documented on setlist.fm, “Mama, You Sweet” has been performed 3 times:

    Mama You Sweet

The Blue Note, Columbia, MO, USA on June 15, 2009
Saranac Brewery, Utica, NY, USA on July 25, 2007
Filene Center at Wolf Trap, Vienna, VA, USA on July 22, 2007

mama you sweet, i guess. but i’d never ask her to perform it, because it seems like such an emotional song, and i respect that.

“Mama, You Sweet’ was pulled out of the archives, pdl, during the Lu & Doug dynamic duo tour as well as “Fancy Funeral” the same evening.
