Good stuff, lwj. Some of the footage in that video was pulled from footage shot while on a mini tour last year to SXSW to play an unofficial showcase.

“Brooklyn Girls” is the first song on her latest EP.

Quite the person you bumped into there, stoger. There are many articles on Dick, I thought this was a good interview regarding Son House and fairly recent.

Apparently, he was at the Portland Waterfront Blues Festival in 2011, and according to his blog, was having camera issues but was able to capture one good shot of Lu. It is not posted to his website, a treasure trove of photos, as TO said.

“The result was piss poor results with lots and lots of blurred motion. Fortunately, I have shot Buddy Guy and Curtis Salgado often in the past so I didn’t really need to add anything of them. I had very few decent shots of anything but did come away with one Lucinda Williams image that I like.”

Dick’s website with photo gallery link. Highly recommend.

Strange you should bring up Birney Imes. I was perusing You Tube last night and happened upon this recent upload – the studio version of ‘2 Kool 2 Be 4-Gotten’ as described in the caption with “photos from the Mississippi Delta, Clarksdale, Birney Imes “Juke Joint” and Juke Joint Festivals.”

A tour poster from 2010 by Pearl Rachinsky. I believe she and Amos are friends.

    Your memory far outshines mine.

I neglected to post a few photos of 2 posters I asked Amos to sign. I didn’t want to make the blog all about him, especially since I am writing on a site that is John Mellencamp related.

This poster was from the co bill Lu and Amos shared in 2011. I was able to get Lu to sign it on that tour, but was never able to get Amos to sign until last week.

I hope you get to see her one day, lwj. She’s releasing a full length sometime this year. Perhaps she’ll make it up north again to promote.

I’m hardly ready for prime time blogging, lwj, however, I’m glad y’all enjoyed. I have fun blogging in the instagram format.

To answer your questions, lwj, the benefit was open to anyone. I/we received an email from the gal who handles the VIP ticket sales for the FA concert plus they posted the invite on their website and FB page. The ticket [tax deductible] was expensive, however, I rationalized by using FF miles and points for flight and hotel.

Amos covered, as mentioned in the Billboard piece, “Growing Trade.” I can’t believe you missed that in the article. 😆 I have to say I was not familiar with this song. Amos did a nice job introducing it, speaking about how he had played “The Barn” and felt it very appropriate for the night.

Here is Amos covering “Ophelia” last year in Rotterdam.

And, those chocolate covered bananas? Dark chocolate.

lwj..I never made it to this past Saturday’s Pleasant Plain show, however, I am determined to make it to the Southgate House in a few weeks (and Holly Williams a week or so after Angela.)

    I’ll keep you posted.

The good news is I gave JP a call today at the station and he told me he would give Angela a listen. He said I have great taste in music. 😮 😆 [it’s that Mellencamp/Lu connection we share  ]

Last week’s NYC trip. Lu’s name was dropped as Thom Duffy introduced Amos at the event.
