Somewhere, there has to be some Cabernet…
LafayetteParticipantI had invited Angela to a “Ghost Brothers of Darkland County” show in Columbus after a ticket became available the day of the show. She couldn’t make it because she was filming for parts of this video – the car scenes.
Press release on reverb compares her to Lucinda Williams (several times), Wanda Jackson, Patsy Cline, and Over The Rhine, among others. Keep your eye on this girl.

5. Which musicians have influenced your style?
Classics have been Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Wanda Jackson, The Carter Family, Bob Dylan, The Rolling Stones, and Led Zeppelin. More modern artists have been Lucinda Williams, Iris Dement, Jack White, The Black Keys, Holly Golightly, and Jenny Lewis.
7. How do you get yourself psyched up to play a show?
Lately the band and I have been cruising to shows screaming along to Black Sabbath and the Heartless Bastards… so magical- gets us fired up instantly. Whiskey, vodka tonics, beer, boots, dresses, and hats get me in the zone as well.
LafayetteParticipantShe’s released the first single, “Hurricane” from “Hey Kid.” Apparently, ESPN/ABC featured the song during the USC v. UCLA game on Saturday. The band was pumped from their facebook postings.
“Hurricane” soundcloud included in article.

LafayetteParticipantI think she should change her name to Lu Lo [Lucinda Overby]. Move on over J Lo.
LafayetteParticipantAmos receives a commendation from the mayor of Philadelphia.
Watch Amos Lee receive a commendation from Mayor Michael Nutter at City Hall
LafayetteParticipantBetter late than never.
Happy Thanksgiving to The Overbys!
The friendly forum is thankful you embraced this community.
LafayetteParticipantCancer sucks.
LafayetteParticipantYes, not only do I have most of them, I have ALL of them. 😯
It’s a great compilation – a great investment, in my humble opinion. 🙂

Lucinda Williams’ highly acclaimed 1988 self-titled album, also known as The Rough Trade Album, is set to be re-released January 14 as a 25th Anniversary reissue after being out of print for over a decade.
The 2-disc reissue will feature remastered versions of the original recordings, as well as a bonus disc containing six live tracks and a previously unreleased live recording of a 1989 concert in Eindhoven, Netherlands. An expanded booklet will include never before seen photos and new liner notes by writer Chris Morris and Rough Trade A&R man Robin Hurley.
Lucinda Williams contains some of the artist’s most lauded material, including “Passionate Kisses.” The track was covered by Mary Chapin Carpenter and won a Grammy for Country Song of the Year in 1994. Tom Petty tackled “Change The Locks” in 1996, and Emmylou Harris recorded “Crescent City” for her 1993 album Cowgirl’s Prayer.
Those who pre-order the reissue through Williams’ PledgeMusic page will receive exclusive access into the making of the album, with special videos, photos and more. Here’s a message from Williams:
Hi y’all. It’s been a long time coming, but I’m happy to announce the re-issue of my self-titled album, Lucinda Williams, is finally here.
I can’t even begin to explain what this album means to me… It was the first record where I truly found myself… Or, at least, figured out what it is I do. And it has shaped me as an artist from that year forward.
For decades, people have wondered why they couldn’t buy this album in stores… So, when I decided it was the right time to get this music back out into the world and into the hands of my dearest fans, I knew I wanted to do it in a way that would somehow say thanks for all of your faith over the years… And that’s exactly why we’re here.
I can only imagine this is going to be fun… Rock on!

LafayetteParticipantShort road trip to Louisville Ky to see Amos at the beautiful Louisville Palace Theater. It was the first time I’ve attended this theater. I love theater shows for their all magnificent architecture and history. I prefer club shows with general admission but it looks like Amos may not be looking back. He put on the best show. EVER. Theaters agree with him plus he seems like he is in a really good place. He was happy, relaxed, telling stories and jokes. PLUS, he loves Louisville, and Ross, the cab driver. He even dedicated a song to him – he rearranged “Black River” with a reggae beat. I assume Ross loved reggae.
His band was firing on all cylinders and he has picked up Annie Clements (Sugarland, Holly Williams) on bass (she appeared with him on Leno and Letterman a month or so ago). Oh, plus he played “Colors,” a rarity on the set list these days. I swooned.
I wish I had the time and could rationalize the funds to travel to L.A. next Feb 21. It would be so awesome if Lu was invited as a special guest. 🙂

LafayetteParticipantGreat post and find, lefty – one that tugged at my heart strings.
Here is one I’ve been meaning to post after hearing the news of Lou’s passing. The time Lou Reed, John Mellencamp, and John Prine walked into a club in Bloomington, IN (a club Lu played several years ago). An addendum to…
