Yes, Lu looks fabulous! 😛
LafayetteParticipantI just updated setlist.fm with this show’s set list.
lwj, could you provide me with the songs Jim L sat in on (since you have it recorded)? I would like to credit him in the setlist.

LafayetteParticipantI’m going to her CD release show tomorrow in Columbus. Shall I pick you up a copy?
I don’t quite understand releasing downloads to promote records. It seems all the kids are doing it, indie and established artists alike. *shrugs shoulders*
I told Angela I would advocate to get her played on WNKU. I’m hoping the station will take notice with this CD release. I tried once before, however, they were EPs – not quite as receptive as a full length album. She is coming to Cincinnati in a few weeks, an Irish pub. I should feel right at home considering my strong Irish roots. The show is on a Friday. I’m going to suggest she call the station and ask for an On Air to promote the show. It’s downtown, and typically WNKU is happy to help establishments and artists promote shows in the area. I’ll keep you posted.
LafayetteParticipantHopefully, a summer tour to follow the anticipated June release?? Yes, please.
LafayetteParticipantThe Corner:
“I don’t usually write about reissues, (the massive box sets a given), but this one is of such noteworthiness that I am compelled to do so.”

LafayetteParticipantThe Village Voice:
“Though she says she doesn’t normally listen to stuff once it’s out, for this occasion she had to make an exception.
“It’s sort of an emotional trip, Williams says. “Seeing my young days, my young self on the cover. The majority of the artists who played on that album are gone now — that makes it even more of a special emotional ride. John Ciambotti, the bass player; Donald Lindley, the drummer. Juke Logan, who played harmonica on ‘Changed the Locks,’ we lost him [last] year. Chris Gaffney, who played accordion on it, is gone; and Doug Atwell, the guy who played fiddle, he died in the ’90s. They’re not here to talk about it and celebrate it. That’s kind of a strange feeling.”

The four horseman, all in one room. I met West Words, off to my left, first, and then you (stoger) approached me as TNT held your ‘front row’ center ‘seats.’ I ditched West Words 😆 as she didn’t want to move. Ah, but we reunited later that year in Minneapolis.
Legend.
LafayetteParticipantAmerican Songwriter streams “Hey Kid,” Angela’s debut album, and thinks “it’s pretty great.”
LafayetteParticipantMy pleasure, stoger. I had to help you fill in some time while you were in Austin. 😀
Thanks for the detailed report! You’re still wearing the road warrior hat, respectfully.
LafayetteParticipantAngela releases second song for free download on “Popdose.”
“Athens” (Ohio) (she is an Ohio University Alum). She graduated with a literature background. She had short term plans to be a teacher. Turned to music, instead.

“Port Arthur” was the sixth song of the evening, called by Lu a “new song” (do we know different Lafayette? Was it 2012 or 2011 even in Cleveland?). The phrase “call me Pearl” got quite a reaction from the crowd. Kimmie Rhodes sang harmony, and the house band stayed on for it, sans bassist. Some kind of guitar tech figure hit a lick or two before handing it over to Lu upon her walk-on, not anybody I recognized.
Back up a few years prior to your 2011/2012 time frame guess.

I love this song. Always will. We saw the birth of it that evening, a little over 4 years ago. The song was so new she didn’t even have a title, pondering on stage, saying she may call it “Difficult Child.” The title evolved to “Port Arthur.”

Thanks so much for the detailed report!
LafayetteParticipantMy twitter search is indicating the Kenneth Brian Band will open the Echoplex show.
