Athens, the reprise version.
Chris can make his guitar sing and dance.
Here’s the video.

Thanks for posting the videos. I missed Angela in Cincinnati, I was out of town. Chris is the real deal. You know he’s in the zone when the guitar neck is straight up in the air.
LafayetteParticipantI did! Thanks, lwj!
I just wrote a little report I posted to my FB page for all my JM friends who saw him open for Mellencamp in 2005.
A Stoll Vaughan update (for all those who saw him open for JM in 2005): I went to see him play this past Saturday at the Master Musician’s Festival in Somerset, KY, where he has family roots. It was a hot, muggy day (my kinda weather, actually). I was very happy to see him step out on stage, especially with his harmonica in tow. I’m a sucker for a harmonica player. He played a glorious 60 minute solo acoustic set, including many favorites of mine – “The Weatherman,” “Fade Away,” “Troubles,” and by audience request with a sing along, he covered John Prine’s “Angel From Montgomery.” He knew I was going to be there with a comment I left on his facebook page. He acknowledged me by name early in his set, and much to my surprise, toward the end, began telling the history of his ‘girlfriend’ – how I had supported him from the very beginning, sent ‘boyfriend’ signs to shows with friends, bought him a cake for his birthday one year, and on and on. So nice. I was so flattered. He ended his set with a rousing “Alright.” I know many who absolutely love that song. I know I do!
I had the opportunity to talk to him afterwards. He is living in L.A. with his very sweet girlfriend (that would be his ‘real’ girlfriend), has a recording studio where he plays shows every now and then as well as artist development (worked/working with Jessica Childress from “The Voice” and Duane Betts, to name a few). He wrote a song for Sam Riddle, a country artist playing shows in Vegas. Check him out – 1) He’s a dyanmic performer 2) In his highlight reel I found on YouTube, he covers “Jack and Diane.” 😀 He has had several of his songs featured in “True Blood” and “The Office” AND he hopes to be recording a record very soon with a certain Mellencamp band member, his former manager and mentor, Mike Wanchic. I hope that happens sooner than later! Boyfriend is doing great. I just wish he would make it back home a little more often AND my Stoll Sistah Melissa Evans could have made the trip with me.
LafayetteParticipantApparently, a music video is in the works. My guess is for “Compassion” considering the hashtag. Here’s the tweet:

LafayetteParticipantI knew he was in town from his facebook post, this just doesn’t look like him. Maybe the hair is longer?…
Anyway, thanks for confirming!
LafayetteParticipantLafayetteParticipantI can say with certitude it was not Stuart M and it doesn’t look like Doug P either. I found a photo on instagram, but couldn’t copy or save the photo to my hard drive as a .jpeg.
Here is the instagram link, not sure it will open even if one has an instagram account, however, I took a photo of the instagram shot with my phone, sending it to my email, and then uploading to my photobucket account. There is more than one way to skin a cat. 😛 …and I would bet there is a simpler method, but this works for me.
LafayetteParticipant…and with today’s announcement, it’s officially Sept 30. You were close tonyg.
LafayetteParticipantLOVE the promo photo included. LOVE LOVE LOVE
Lucinda Williams To Release Down Where The Spirit Meets The Bone
LafayetteParticipantLucinda (and management) never cease to amaze.
ALSO, ya gotta love social media!
On a side note, I was in Somerset, KY at a music festival, and my brother texted me telling me about the cancellation. He had plans on attending the Taste to see Lu. I did a quick check in the forum and saw tonyg’s post about the impromptu show, texted my brother the info, with him replying they had just made dinner plans with friends, and the venue was 40 minutes on the other side of town and he didn’t think they could make it in time. It really would have been cool had he been able to make the show. Meanwhile, tonight, he’s at City Winery seeing the Heartless Bastards for his birthday. He LOVES Erika and has had tickets for weeks.
Rock on, Lu!
LafayetteParticipantWell, well, well…it looks like Mr. Pettibone is in Chicago…with Lu!
LafayetteParticipantI would have considered it, especially since my brother lives in the Windy City, however, slap my hand, I’m headed south to Somerset, KY to see Stoll Vaughan at the Master Musician’s Festival. I haven’t seen him for a year and half.
So, I know Paul has made a trip or two to (one) of the cities by the lake…
