Here’s a somewhat detailed review of Tuesday night’s show.

    Faith & Grace Postscript:
At 20 minutes long we debated long and hard what to do with this “piece”. Should it be on the album; should it be presented on it’s own? For the longest time I was determined to put the full length version on the album but to do so meant we would have had to add a third record to the vinyl package and we just didn’t want to do that again. We already had 88 minutes of music and we didn’t want to edit that down to a long single CD – so we made the decision that the best way to present it was two separate 40+ minute CDs, but we didn’t think of it as a double CD and we chose not to market it as that. But, another triple vinyl just didn’t seem realistic so we had no real choice but to edit Faith & Grace down a little. We ended up taking out about a 6 minute section to cut it down enough so we could just fit the entire album on two vinyls. Other than taking out that section, what you hear is what happened. There were no overdubs later etc. We didn’t want to touch a thing. We will release the full version, most likely digitally, because it really needs to be heard in it’s entirety. We will also be putting out a blue vinyl 12” remix single for Record Store Day in April. That is going to blow some minds

Here is the info on Lu’s Record Store Day Release, as TO indicated in this blog.

OH, there’s my 2 Kool in the set list (!!) and have to agree with Steal Your Love, Sweet Side, etc etc. Oh, how I wish I could hop on the Lu train and follow her for a month, nonstop.

Here’s hoping 2 Kool makes it into the Louisville set list. 8)

    Thanks for the reports, all!

Thanks for posting the set list, stoger!

Thankfully, your cross country flight was without incident and you made it to the windy city, snow showers and all.

You’ve covered the set list with bracket commentary, where necessary. I can’t recall anything to add to your summation. I’ll take over duties in Louisville. Geez, you’d think we would have given you a break since you were celebrating your birthday!

The room was amazing. My brother was sitting along the side of the stage on David’s side and commented the sound was great.

I just checked my setlist.fm page. The last time I saw Lu (not counting the show in Nashville with Roseanne and EmmyLou) was last February in L.A. at The Regent! 😯 FAR TOO LONG. I needed last night. It was wonderful. Thanks all!

Oh, how I would love to squeeze this in between Louisville and Nashville. It would be a ‘ville’ trifecta.

Ahhh, there’s my 2 Kool on the set list. 8)

I follow Angela Perley, a local band from Columbus, OH, near Nelsonville, and she counts Lucinda as one of her mentors / heroes. She has never seen Lu live until last night. She posted this on her FB page:

‘First time seeing Lucinda Williams live and it being in Nelsonville at Stuart’s Opera House= words can’t express… No one writes a song or sings a song like Lu!’

Angela has played the Nelsonville Music Festival at Stuart’s in the past and is scheduled for this year’s event as well.

I’m so happy she finally managed to see Lu.

    75 songs? Nice.

That is a great shot of Lu and the band. And David’s hair.

I don’t think this has been posted.

Recap with a multitude of pictures. Good to see Buick 6 is still autographing drum heads with siggies and words of wisdom.

Really fantastic article. You can always count on the FF to bring the good stuff! The writer mentions that Lucinda is calling from “her home in Nashville”… is this new, or is the writer perhaps assuming that all musicians of Lucinda caliber reside in Nashville 8) ? Also, he refers to “Vince (!!) McCallum” as Lu’s “road guitarist” — do not disrespect Stuart, my friend! I dig this article so much.

    Caught that too, Vivian.
Heard a rumor a while back that trading in the LA digs for Nashville was a potential option.
Gotta think it was the author’s error though. Hope so, for purely selfish reasons of course, as traveling to the LA area is much easier for me. Although I’m still trying to see if I can put together a New Orleans/ Mississippi/Tennessee trip for that amazing leg of this tour 8) Great article and I agree frame worthy cover.

I have an extra ticket in Section MF-1, Row G, Seat 1 for the Ryman. 😉 The FF will be well represented at the Mother Church. Just sayin.’

Great report and you could tag this night as a Boston Proper experience. Good to see Boston II atoned for Boston I.

    Safe travels, Perfesser!

I’m aware of 2/3. I tend to think classes are still in session but close to finals week, eliminating that third possibility

With that said, could it be I may find you belly up at a bar, sipping mint juleps??

Okay, thanks! This prompted me to check High Road and WOOT…Lu in Louisville on May 2 and Athens, GA on May 3.

Holy Pre-Derby Day, lafayette! You can pop over to Louisville and still be bright-eyed for Tuesday morning car pool duty. Do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Count me as a road warrior for ‘Looville’ or “Luville!” 2 1/2 hour drive [no problem] and the kid is car pooling himself this year, although Mom duties typically have me assuring his feet hit the floor and his lunch is packed. 😉

Headliner’s will round out a nice little run for me. The intimate Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, the general admission club type atmosphere of Headliner’s (saw Amos at this venue, reminds me of Madison Theater in Covington, Ky) and the stoic and revered setting of the ‘Mother Church.”

    Perfect trifecta!
