Ignore the PM I sent you, Tom. 😯 Good for you!
LafayetteParticipantLooking forward to your report, joneswd!
LafayetteParticipantStevarino, sounds like you have a much better feel for dining in that area than I do. However, with this being a GA show, depending on time you would want to meet, I prefer to line up somewhat early.
However, if a preshow is in order, Dee Felice would be cool with it’s Cajun and Creole cuisine.

All your pre-show suggestions are void of karaoke equipment, so that works. 😉
The general consensus may have us going to a post show. I’ll do whatever.

The previous notes presume the Chicago shows will occur before Covington. It might seem just as likely for the Chicago shows to occur after Bonnaroo. There’s 3 weeks between Bonnaroo and Europe; plenty of time for Chicago, and a return home to California, before departing for Roskilde. I’m just speculating; I have no factual knowledge.
Also, Lafayette’s earlier note indicated Madison Theater tickets on sale April 30. Actually, the Madison Theater website is showing April 3, this Friday, with “Club Seating; Standing only on the main floor”. On another screen, the Madison does state “The balcony always has seating regardless of the main floor set-up”.
Thank you for checking the site and correcting my snafu! I misunderstood April 3 as 30. BIG difference, eh? I will forward information to the radio station. There are links to post to facebook and myspace for this show as well.
Tom, I suppose you will be deciding on Covington before Friday?
LafayetteParticipantFor you, Lefty. This is same venue Lu will be playing when she visits Cincinnati 😀

LafayetteParticipanttnt… I received same pollstar notification and was thinking along those same lines! That would be very tuff schedule as she is in Iowa the night before Wisconsin, then drop down to Chi town and on to Cincy? Oh, and let’s not forget, on to Bonnaroo, too.
LafayetteParticipantI called the afternoon host (and music director) on WNKU 89.7 while he was on the air, in regards to the Cincinnati (Covington) show at Madison Theater. I told him Lu was coming to town but tickets weren’t on sale yet, however show was posted on her website. I didn’t have the next sentence out of my mouth when he checked Lu’s site, said yep I see it, that’s all I need, I’m going to talk about it on the air. The next song he played (and typically he doesn’t stray from his preplanned playlist for the day) was “Lake Charles.” He introduced the song by giving big props to her coming to an intimate venue like the Madison, etc. etc. THEN, he followed up with “Unsuffer Me” and talked more about the show after that song played and said he would let everyone know when tickets would be available.
I did call Madison Theater, according to person I spoke to, tickets for this show will be available April 30. Set up will be for 1,300.
LafayetteParticipantGreat description of surrounding area, Stevarino. I love Main Strasse in Covington even though I don’t get there as often as I would like.
I’m going viral with this particular booking. I’ve posted comments on WNKU 89.7 myspace page as well as facebook page shouting Lu is coming back to Cincy! Left a comment on Madison Theater’s myspace page as well.
LafayetteParticipantMadison Theater in Covington, KY works for me ! I saw Amos Lee there a few months ago. Perfect! General Admission (we know how Lu loves that),open floor, tables around back perimeter, bar right there as well. It’s small, though, so I’m throwing a dollar down Lu will need 2 nights there.
THANK YOU for booking Cincinnati ! 😀
LafayetteParticipantStevarino, never had the opportunity to meet Lu and Tom in Atlanta. I’ve been cheerleading from the sidelines, though. I, too, missed Lu’s appearance at “Tall Stacks.” It was a timing thing for me as well.
I knew the news would carry well with you! As far as autopilot on I 75, it is probably one of the easiest drives I have made even if at 8 hours. No turnpikes, no major cities to run into traffic (other than Atlanta itself) and I suspect there won’t be that snow issue to contend with in June.
The timing for this show for me is just about right. I may try to head to Chicago for those “special” shows if they come to fruition. Will have to see if it works into budget and schedule.
LafayetteParticipantI can feel the magic you were feeling TNT. Thanks for sharing.

Outdoor shows do have their issues, but minor league ballparks? You can’t get more “Americana” than that… 😉
Tom
You are absolutely right. I have only been in one minor league ball park. I was assuming they are massive, forgetting they are smaller.
Lefty, thanks for the encouragement. Grampa Willie… 😆
Today was a big day. I’m giddy. Mellencamp and Lucinda tour plan teasers.
LafayetteParticipantWOW! Those are challenging times, and from show reports and photos, Lu and the band were still able to shine. Thanks for hanging in there and not giving up the ship.
Doing flip flops here for that Cincinnati show! I just posted in the Heartless Bastards thread my thoughts on Lu coming to Cincy! I may be making myself a liar, but I do believe, in my heart of hearts, Lu will have a fantastic turnout here in my hometown. Looking forward to May/June tour announcement!
Safe travels to the land Down Under!
LafayetteParticipantThis just posted on Mellencamp’s website (with a disclaimer saying nothing is set in stone 😆 )Typically, nothing is posted until confirmed on JM’s website, but I think there is too much information out there on the internet, so they are fanning some flames.
“Summer Tour: A special tour is in the works, slated to start in early July and run through the end of August. It will play at minor league baseball fields, with John sharing top billing with two other major artists.”
Also, a fan posted into forums this info…
“Mellencamp, Bob Dylan and Willie Nelson will play at GCS Ballpark in Sauget, IL — just outside of St. Louis — sometime in early July (specific date not yet known). Tickets on sale in late April or early May. You heard it here first.”
Sorry, Lefty, looks like solo shows, at least for part of the summer, will be for naught. I’m not so sure I’m digging the ballpark thing but, hey, I’m really not complaining. JM will be out on the road again, when he said he probably wouldn’t tour this year.
LafayetteParticipantDoes LU know about your “other” woman????
I was out running errands today, listening to my favorite NPR station. FIRST, they were on World Cafe Live today. They archive, as I’m sure you are aware, if you missed it. I missed it myself. Then, the afternoon host played “The Mountain.” I’m in Cincy, their “old” hometown, and the music host, of course, was chattering about them. They are playing a club next week, March 25, as their CD release party. Can’t make it, will be on my way home from a short trip, maybe Stevarino can pick up the slack on that. He then went on to say they are also doing an “In Store” at an indie record club, Shake It Records. Apparently, the owner told the music host the HB new CD has been a HUGE seller, copies flying off the shelves.

SO, Stevarino and I have been lobbying to get Lu here. I say have “The Heartless Bastards” open (once again) for Lu at PNC Pavillion, a 4,000 seat ampitheater on Riverbend Music center grounds in Cincy. I seriously think LU would have no problem selling tickets to a show here in Cincy, even 4,000 seats, and WNKU would sponsor it.
Oh, yeah, after “The Mountain” was played, 11 songs later, “Long Way to The Top” was spun.
I would have gotten some pics for you, Lefty. However, I’ll be on a return flight from a short getaway trip.
