I’m also hoping for “Little Honey” Grammy nominations in 2010. LH is eligble for the 52nd Grammy awards with its Oct 14, 2008 release date.

Jason, I liked your personal spin on this preview.

Is a review from tonight’s show in order since you’re attending?

I wish I had been at last night’s show as well, Stu! I gave my ticket for Thursday’s show to the guy standing next to me Wednesday night.

Lu’s voice is unique but it is sounding more smooth lately (must be her sipping honey doing the trick), but hey, Janis Joplin had a unique voice too…

Thanks for the setlist and show updates to all that attended!

Congratulations on the nuptials, DiscoStu! Were you able to squeeze in any additional Lu songs to the wedding song list?

Another review from Night #1. My brother actually gave me the hard copy this morning from the paper. Features a large B & W photo of the full band (with Lu) as well as an inset photo of Lu.

Oh man, now that is a setlist I would have loved to have been there to hear / see. “Greenville”, “Lake Charles”, “Lonely Girls”, “I Envy The Wind”, “Blue”, “Are You Down”. Heaven, pure heaven.

Thanks for the setlist / reports, y’all.

Lafayette, you up yet? 😈 😆

    Tom

I was up, on the road, rather early, TNT. It was a quick in, quick out trip for me.

An amazing setlist, no? I, too, noticed the silence in the room as Lu weaved her magic. A few girls were chatting, during “Greenville,” I believe, and were shushed by another patron.

My brother enjoyed the show, was mesmerized by “Angel.”

I purchased some merch from Susannah with an “h.” All proceeds last night benefitted autism.

Unfortunately, little time spent with Stoger & Paul. I think Stoger and I communicated more via text 😉

Good luck with the pic lwj. I was going to ask Erika the night of Lu’s reception, but I knew she wasn’t in any shape. Hopefully, she will swing thru Cincinnati again on her headlining tour next year. I would love to catch HB live.

Yes, stoger, “Mama You Sweet” (especially!) and “Fancy Funeral” would be amazing, I forgot their inclusion. I actually can relate to “Are You Alright” as well, especially the line “Are you sleeping through the night,” even though it was written about her brother, that line brings it all home for me.

I first heard “Mama You Sweet” on the World Cafe interview. Sweet. Bittersweet, really.

Following is the podcast from Erika’s On Air at WNKU. I volunteered today at the studio, answering phones during the semi-annual pledge drive. John Patrick, the music host that interviewed Erika, popped his head in and told me Erika barely remembers talking to me at Lu’s reception. She told him she was pretty drunk (but she does remember talking to someone from Cincy, it was just sketchy 😮 ). I laughed and told him I wasn’t quite in the shape she was in, however, if she had seen me later in the night, I was sort of drunk, too. 😆 And, on a Lu sidenote, two other volunteers (there were only 4 of us) piped up and told me they saw Lu in 2003 at the Tall Stacks Festival in Cincinnati and she put on a great great show. I thought that was cool, so of course, we talked about Lu.

    Thanks for the setlist fuji!

“West” is such a personal record for me. “Wrap My Head Around That” would be the only song added to that list I would pine to hear. I’m bummed I won’t be able to stay for this show in Chitown, however, grateful I will be making the trip for at least one.

Looking forward to additional thoughts about the show!
