I knew this song was going to be special when she started to introduce it and I was getting nervous about capturing the entire song as my camera card was quite full. I had spent part of the show deleting photos I knew I had already transferred to my hard drive but still was not quite sure I had the room (sometimes it is just hard for me to delete photos ๐Ÿ˜ฏ ๐Ÿ˜† ). However, it all worked out and I captured the song in it’s entirety and didn’t have to blurt any expletives because the song was cut off ๐Ÿ˜† .

I hope we get to hear an updated version of “Port Arthur” at some point! I think it was just a wonderful tribute to Janis and the fact that Lu wrote this song under what certainly seemed to be extreme duress, and came up with such a gem, speaks volumes about Lu and what moves her.

Aha…yes, you did predict the Bengals win lwj! I actually didn’t think they could pull it off with Pittsburgh so hot as of late and the game was in their house. I couldn’t initially tune in as, apparently, I don’t have the NFL package deal for Sirius. It was killing me on the drive home and my husband wasn’t answering the home phone for me to get updates. HOWEVER, I finally got within local range and tuned into the last 7 minutes, which proved to be the most exciting. We are happy Bengal fans savoring this last win! We’ve been long suffering season ticket holders for over 12 years, so this is a very sweet season for us. AND, to add to all this Cincinnati excitement, we are also University of Cincinnati fans and season ticket holders enjoying a 10 – 0 record for the first time in school history and a #5 ranking. WHO DEY and Go Bearcats!

Back to Lu…the youtube video seems to be uploading. Should be up shortly!

Excellent report, my friend, as always. I would never have been able to capture the events of the evening quite the same as you.

Per your request and lwj’s post of noted dress, Lucinda was indeed dressed in black, with sequined black top, jeans, and her Harley type boots she wore in Chicago (which I love!). No leather main accessory as I predicted. Her hair was notably highlighted. She looked lovely!

I have footage of Lucinda performing “Difficult Child.” I hope to have it up on YouTube later this evening. MY PC is dated and getting footage up is always a challenge for me but will give it a whirl later.

Thanks, again, TO, you’re the best! ๐Ÿ˜‰ as well as stoger ๐Ÿ˜‰ ๐Ÿ˜‰

Thanks for the root on the Bengals. Longtime sufferer here following them but this season is looking up!

I’m looking forward to seeing HB. Very cool they are making a return (was here in March for CD release show) but no surprise, I suppose, with them calling Cincinnati home.

Good one lwj! I’m laying odds she will be in black and one item (jacket, pants, etc) will be leather.

I just heard HB will be in my neighborhood on Dec. 26! I have them tentatively penciled in. Hope it works out to see them.

Thanks, lwj, for the Sirius tip. I’ll be sure to check out “The Loft.” It seems I’ve been stuck on the Classic Vinyl station as of late. However, on Sunday, I’ll be tuning in, I hope, to listen to NFL football on the drive home from Cleveland. A big game for this Cincinnati gal as the Bengals play the Steelers for 1st place in their division.

I do love Sirius…it’s a very nice splurge, especially on road trips.

My homegrown station spun “Ramblin'” last week, a nice little gem to hear on the radio.

Erika continues to amaze me with her vocals. Thanks for sharing that lwj.

I have fingers crossed stoger will also be at the Joplin tribute to give a much more accurate, comprehensive report on Lu’s performance, HOWEVER, if he isn’t able to attend, I’ll try my best!

Lucinda shines in this particular review as well as The Duhks (good call, tnt). Amos, not so well.

    http://www.exclaim.ca/musicreviews/latestsub.aspx?csid1=137&csid2=870&fid1=42134

“Dylan is well represented, with five versions of his classics here, while former muse Suze Rotolo contributes liner notes. The best Dylan cover is Lucinda Williams’ sparse and world-weary take on “Positively 4th Street.” with the Duhks’ version of “It’s Alright Ma I’m Only Bleeding” also being a worthy one.”

Oh, thank you for the review, tnt!

I saw, via my email inbox, you had responded to this thread and my immediate thought, before I checked the forum, is your post was a friendly reminder this collection was being released on Tuesday.

I’m off to order from Amazon right now! Thanks for giving Amos a listen ( I do love me some Amos) as I know you gravitate toward female vocalists/singer songwriters. I won’t hold it against you. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I gravitate towards male vocalists/singer songwriters. Lu is my exception.

Rosie Flores posted thoughts on her myspace blog, dated Oct 14, on being asked by Lu to join her on stage in Chicago.

    http://rosieflores.com/blog/

“Lucinda Williams performed last night at the Park West theater in Chicago, it was one of the best shows Iโ€™d ever seen of hers. She was generous as can be and invited me up on stage at her encore after she told the audience that I was the best rockabilly guitarist ever! Now you know she went a little overboard on that in my book but if she feels that way then so be it! Being invited up to play with her band was quite the honor. I got to shred a bit on one of my favorite songsโ€ฆ โ€œYou took My Joyโ€ฆI want it backโ€…”

I just ordered tix for this show! I invariably called the venue to order as I had questions on seats. I checked online (late last night) and best available was in the loge (upper level) area. Today, I was told the best available was in mezzanine, center, 4th row, that these seats had a good vantage view of entire stage, so I grabbed them. I’m taking my husband on this trip, although he doesn’t know… yet . Interesting, the man taking my order told me he personally saw Janis perform. I thought that was very cool.

Thanks, again, tnt for the tip ! I’ll represent (Lu) in Cleveland.

H*ll, YEAH! 4 hour drive for me, tnt. Funny, I JUST compared Lu’s voice at the Chicago show as reminding me of Janis Joplin=esque in the Chicago thread I replied to.

I think I can make this show! Thanks for the info tnt. ๐Ÿ˜€

Both of the posted photos are great! I’m struck by the photo of Eric. That is an amazing shot. In Lu’s band, he’s my Andy York (Mellencamp).
