Now those are some cool shoes! I don’t own a pair of those shoes, however, I do have some Who-Dey collectible beer cans (a take on a former local beer, Hudepohl or Hudy for short, which was some really nasty stuff), unopened, from our 1988 season when we went to Super Bowl. Does that count?

Yes, WNKU is the radio station where I volunteer.

LWJ, in regards to Dayton, the HB website had tickets to this gig as a preorder. Its frustrating knowing they were at two venues near me and the timing just didn’t work out for me to see them. Bengals game today, we pulled it out in the end, won, AFC champs headed to the playoffs for the first time in 19 years ! It’s been a squeaker of a season, and unless they step up their play, it will be one and out in playoffs, but it doesn’t matter, we’re in post season play, and I plan on shouting WHO DEY in a freezing stadium at a home game in early January!

Back to HB, WNKU 89.7 has a Top 89 album countdown every year. Last year Lu’s “Little Honey” was voted as #1 by the fans. This year, Heartless Bastards “The Mountain” is eligible for voting, and my bottom dollar has them in the top 5 if not number one. Voting ends tomorrow, Monday Dec 28th, at midnight. Also, Tim Easton’s “Porcupine” is eligble as well. All the details are here at this link with the winners counted down on Jan 1.

I couldn’t believe the alcohol question, either. Lu should hold her head up high with the way she answered. The truth will always set you free, as old and cliche as that is, it’s something I try to live by each and every day. It amazes me that she said plainly she doesn’t drink on stage, yet reponses to the interview have her incoherent and drunk while she is playing. I would love to shout ” Hey, people, Lu grew up in the south, she speaks the way folks live there, in the slow lane and laid back (and there’s nothing wrong with that!) Right, tnt? 😀

P.S. Rah, rah, shish boom bah.

She will almost definitely do a blues album someday, it is something she has been wanting to do for a long time–but it will not be this next record.

I will be waiting with bated breath to hear her song choices if and when she decides to go forward with her wish to do a blues record.

I hope this comment doesn’t get me banned, but I like Taylor Swift!

Not at all, diversity of opinion is always welcome! 😀

And, while I have not familiarized myself with her music, I must say I really admire Ms. Swift. For a young person thrust into the spotlight of fame and fortune, she really seems to be handling it in a classy way. Kudos to her!

    Tom

I like Taylor Swift’s persona and her sense of humor. She loves to prank people, and this particular prank I’m going to post, is especially funny. To set this up, she was opening for Keith Urban and apparently was coming out and singing with him on “Kiss A Girl”. She and her band came out dressed as “Kiss” and the guy imitating Gene Simmons was dead on! Keith was clueless, fell to his knees laughing at one point.

BTW, I was clued in on this because I follow Taylor on twitter. 😆

I’m listening to it now. She sounds pretty good considering it was 8 am this morning.

Ditto! It was my first thought when she started speaking. She sounded chipper.I loved to hear her laugh.

    I couldn’t get through either!

OY! Not going to be able to make it now, lwj. We have an early morning appt. on 27th before heading to Bengals game. It’s too much all at once!

Actually, the Dayton show on the 27th is very near me as well, that’s a possiblity, however, I assume that is the other sold out show you posted? Canal Street Tavern, so I have heard, is a great listening room type venue. Erika grew up in Dayton so I am sure she will have a great crowd.

Good to see you are still checking in, Paul! We will have to start calling you Paulock Holmes!

So, just to keep this all straight, because at times that’s hard for me , Lu is being drug out of bed at 8:00 a.m. PST according to TO’s post a few days ago. On Point airs between 10 – Noon EST which means, according to my math and Tom & TNT’s jivey banter, Lu will be on at 11:00 a.m. Ya’ll following me still? Cool.

SO, after looking up the information at the On Point site Paul pointed us to, questions will be taken during the live show (which looks like it airs from Boston on WBUR) during the 11:00 a.m. hour. Looks like Boston will be digging out of a snow storm from the forecasts I’ve seen?

How many are calling in tomorrow with questions? Here is number as copied from their website:

To join the conversation on the air, call us at 1-800-423-8255 during a live broadcast.

Hope to hear a few familiar names tomorrow from the friendly forum, live, on the air with LU!

I just realized I may not be at home during this 11:00 a.m. interview, if indeed, we can listen online at the npr site. A was really going to try to call in but still may be able to work that out via mobile if I have a phone number to call into.

As far as CD tree, that would be great, tnt! We have done these in Mellencamp’s forums, usually offering to burn for x amount of folks that have the ability to continue the tree, and in the spirit of giving, offering to burn for x amount of folks that don’t have the ability to burn and continue the tree. I often send my branch a $5 giftcard to whatever as a thank you for the CD and to help with cost. Just a thought.

Is there a link to listen online? The more I think about this, the NPR station I listen to has morning music, no interview shows.

Details, please! Is there a list of stations we can look at to see if our local area is carrying? Is this on XM? I don’t want to miss this!

Awesome, awesome! I’ll be listening AND trying to come up with a question to call in, just in case!

tnt…NPR usually podcasts their interviews, however, if you’re not a gambling man, then record and maybe start a CD tree for all of us that can’t??

Absolutely cool! I love exploring the blues as well, and between John Mellencamp, Lu, and Alex Dixon ( Willie Dixon’s grandson), I, too, have discovered a genre I never thought would interest me. Actually, as the story goes, I would have never discovered Lu had it not been for Mellencamp’s blues and Americana cover record in 2003.

lwj…enjoy time with your sister and family during the holidays. Hopefully, at some point in 2010, maybe later in year? Lu will be out promoting new record.

I’m looking forward to seeing the HB at Southgate House! I’m squeezing it in along with football, basketball games, family eventst, etc. I’ll let Erika know, if I get the opportunity to chat with her, the friendly forum has a few diehard fans that send greets and best wishes.
