I love the beauty of lyrics that are written where the listener can interpret them for a situation that is unique to them.

Lu’s version is beautiful, haunting. I think it’s the best I have heard, including Marianne Faithful’s version.

It’s happening in LA and surrounding area on Friday.

    Reports, please?!

In addition to Kristen Ward playing in LA on Friday, June the 18th, my friend, Stoll, is playing at Genghis Cohen, 740 N. Fairfax, at 9:00 p.m.

HA! TNT, your cheerleader avatar is TOO much. 😆

lwj, we’ll chat about JM next week? I’m making tracks in Disney with the family.

Unfortunately, JM does not have that personal service at merch tables as provided by the lovely Susannah with an “h.”

You are one up on me. I need to order my box set now.

    Welcome, Vincent!

At this time, I think TO (Tom Overby) would be the only one that could provide an answer for you. At present, I think he’s pretty busy as Lu is currently in the studio recording!

The box set is an excellent choice for a JM newbie. I would also recommend “Words And Music (2005),” an excellent cross section of a greatest hits compilation with 2 unpublished songs (at the time) “Walk Tall” and “Thank You,” as additions.

Barnes and Noble has the best price on the box set, includes free shipping.

    Go for it, lwj !

I’m not sure on the rhyme or reason for the ’69 default. John’s career began in ’76. This box set was suppose to have been released last year in ’09. Hence, 7609.

JM is releasing a box set on June 15. Here is a cool, interactive link, complete with book turn pages and song samples.

HA! One of my good mellenbud friends live near Scranton…that’s a nine & 1/2 hour drive, lwj!

I would love to see an Amos show with you (!), however, I would be all over the map trying to make that particular show. I’m not sure if you noticed, Amos is opening a few shows for Dave Matthews, with that being one of them. My recommendation, for your first Amos show, is to see him in a more intimate venue.

He sells out quite a few shows. The Nashville show in March sold out in one day.

I don’t remember this video all that much (no trivia to offer here) , the song…yes. This was the time period I started following JM, known as JC at that time.

John has tried for many years to quit smoking. I would be floored if he ever managed.

Yes, tnt & lwj…I’ll be looking forward to the Amos Lee & Lu pairing!

Here is the photo as mentioned in the article. I have previously posted this photo and as luck would have it, conveniently found it.

lwj…check the date of the article 😮

I started looking at the itinerary, thinking, “hey, Dayton is on there, oh look there’s Eastlake, too! This looks just like last year’s schedule. Oh (looking at date of article)…it is last year’s schedule!”

Love it, TO! It’s very cool to see where Lu feels most comfortable writing. It’s exciting to know we will have additional new Lu tunes in our very near future.

    Thanks, tnt, for posting!

Drunken Angel, thank you for the link to “See You On The Moon!”

According to following interview, you can chalk up yet another artist inspired by Lu.

    http://www.annarbor.com/entertainment/tift-merritt-preview/

“Six More Days of Rain” uses a mid-tempo, foursquare groove and sinewy electric guitar to underscore Merritt’s pensive but affirmative musings about what she sees as the beauty of human resilience. “All the Reasons We Don’t Have to Fight” is a brisk, uptempo rocker, and one of a few tracks that display “the Lucinda influence” in Merritt’s work, both in terms of her writing and the overall sound.

“Yeah, the first time I heard Lucinda, I was just knocked out, and I’ve spent a lot of time listening to her records,” says Merritt.
