tnt, surely Sandy’s testimonial will nudge a particular someone to join you (and maybe her!) for Chuck Prophet!
LafayetteParticipantLafayetteParticipantEileen covers “Get Right With God.” Most excellent. Not to be missed, all the lawn (and chair) dancing beginning around the 2:50 mark. 8)
LafayetteParticipantA listening jumpstart, lwj, on the box set. All songs are full length.

LafayetteParticipantI would love for the station to start spinning “KLYK.” That’s on my request list, for next week.
I wonder if the radio host (who is unfamiliar with me, at least face to face), will catch on if I keep sending Lu requests?
LafayetteParticipantA hint was thrown out on Mellencamp’s website. A recent Billboard article stated JM would be out later this summer with Dylan. The forum more or less confirmed this with most shows west of the Mississippi and pretty far west, at that. Eeesh, these may be hard for me to make with all the anticipated fall shows of my top five artists.
The Dylan fans can now start semi officially groaning. 😈
Update. Tour dates are posted on dylan.com. I will have to live this tour through YouTube.
LafayetteParticipant“LWjetta wrote:Great performance, and me being a professed newbie JM fan, I’m sure I noticed thru other videos the violinist.( Miriam-Is she still in the band? )
So me and my faithfull Google, googled JM band members.
Something funny came up. A photo bucket page with all the band members plus Elaine and Matt all pictured with someone I think hails from West Chester, OHYES, Miriam is still in the band. Amazing, fluid violinist adding beautiful texture. John has great respect for her, IMO. The band is still intact with the newest addition being the keyboard player, some 5 years ago.
Those photos you found were from a band M & G through the fan club. 😉
LafayetteParticipantIt is a great station, and they LOVE Lu. 8)
LafayetteParticipantIf anyone is online now, WNKU is playing this song, per my request on the Friday morning request show!

LafayetteParticipantI cannot wait to hear this record!
LafayetteParticipantI just discovered a song from Stoll’s second record was featured on “True Blood,” the premiere show. “Between You And I” is a great storyteller song. Now we have a Stoll and Lu connection, kinda, sorta.

LafayetteParticipantAwesome photo! From the Janis Joplin tribute, backstage, I assume.
LafayetteParticipantI would love to see Derek and Susan together! I never realized she had opened for Lu !
Susan opened for Mellencamp in ’99, and from what I understand, JM was a courting Lucinda to open for him in ’99, however, she wasn’t available at the time. 😉
As a side note, in 2007, Derek joined JM and band on stage at FA to fill in for guitarist Mike Wanchic, sidelined by the birth of his son. AMAZING! Susan came out to sing “Pink Houses” with JM and Derek on guitar. JM told the story about how his “girlfriend” Susan was playing and Derek was in the wings many times on that ’99 tour as they were dating at the time. A few bloggers/writers picked up on that line and wrote JM’s former girlfriend joined him to sing PH. 😆
You have a banner show week going for you, lwj!
LafayetteParticipantlwj, in response to your JM homework for Windsor, and what you can probably expect…
John, typically, does not pull out songs from early in his career. The last time we heard “I Need A Lover” was in 2005 (other than a special semi private show he did a few years ago) and that was shortened, at best.
Count on ‘Pink Houses,” “Small Town,” “Crumblin’ Down,” “Jack and Diane” (althought he did not perform this last year on Dylan ballpark tour), “Love and Happiness, “Paper In Fire” as staples of his shows. He was performing a few songs from the upcoming new record, including “Save Some Time To Dream” (he recently performed this at a Dalai Lama event and the Dalai Lama used lines from the song and incorporated them in his talk to 10,000 followers). I think he will throw in another new song or two. I’m also hopeful he will perform “If I Die Sudden” and “Troubled Land” both from 2008. “Authority Song,” “Rain On The Scarecrow,” “Check It Out” and “Cherry Bomb” are other favorites.
I am very familiar with the concert posted on Wolfgang. A totally different time and era from what John delivers now. He’s much older and not so much John Cougar as he was back then. Once again, the time period I started following him 8)
One thing with JM and his setlists. He re-arranges songs to keep them fresh and to keep him from getting so bored with performing them ( as mentioned in an old interview.) I’ll never forget the year he was rapping Jack and Diane (not exactly my favorite), with the assistance of a former keyboard player with rap roots. The keyboard player was actually a fan favorite for his stage energy.
Check out this video of “If I Die Sudden”, very different than the studio version, and it kicks butt as a live peformance.

Here is a great EPK interview featuring JM and TBone Burnett, along with various band members, discussing the 2008 making of “Life Death Love and Freedom.” TBone talks about his (code) process and bring fidelity back to recorded music.

I saw this unconfirmed Dylan show on Bill Pagel’s site a few minutes ago and instantly thought of you, Lafayette:
September 3, 2010 Yakima, Washington– (Friday)
Yakima County Stadium
John Mellencamp is also scheduled to perform
A hold has been put on this venue for this date but the show has not yet been confirmedLooks like there’s a good chance our respective favorite musicians (besides Lu, of course) are teaming up again this fall. 🙂
I saw ( a Mellencamp alert) highlighting that same blog, as well, Stu!
