I just had a friend (who I actually “met” on myspace, through Mellencamp), lives in Bloomington, IN, post to my facebook profile my online Mellencamp blog about crossing the border after the Windsor show, was published in today’s Bloomington Herald Times. It’s the first time I’ve been published since writing for the online blog for over 1 1/2 years!

Lucky for me Milwaukee is within my 8 hour parameter for concert road trips. I wish it had been better for you, lwj. Farm Aid is a fun & (great cause) concert to attend.

I’m looking forward to the write up. I would love to hear what prompted Lu to break into song IF that’s not covered in the write up.

Farm Aid …..Oct 2 in Milwaukee, WI at Milwaukee Brewer’s Miller Park.

Apparently, Willie let the date and location slip during an interview on an XM radio station.

Official announcement is on Monday, August 2 via webcam at 11:00 a.m. CT on Farm Aid website

Be among the first to hear Pretenders frontwoman Chrissie Hynde and Welsh singer/songwriter JP Jones discuss their hotly-anticipated debut CD, Fidelity! (La Mina Records/Rocket Science Ventures), the day before its release. Before an intimate audience of 200 in the Museum’s Clive Davis Theater, hear Hynde and Jones in conversation with Executive Director Robert Santelli about the inspiration, creative influences, and collaboration behind the new project. Following the interview, Hynde and Jones will take questions from the audience and, for one of the first times, perform a few songs from the album.

Doors open at 7:30pm. American Express presale tickets are $25 and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com starting Thursday, July 22, 2010. Ticket purchase also includes a copy of the new album. American Express is the exclusive payment method for presale tickets. All proceeds benefit The GRAMMY Museum.

Looks like they have been spinning Chuck like crazy on my favorite local NPR station.

I found one in studio podcasted interview & performance from 2007.

    Salute.

I saw Stoll Vaughan live at Eddie’s Attic last night with Friendly Forum member Lafayette, who drove all the way to Atlanta from Cincinnati just for this show (& to surprise Stoll, which was priceless! The look on his face when he saw her sitting front & center was awesome!).

This guy is the “real deal” – I encourage everyone to check him out. GREAT show!

Thanks for visiting Lafayette & for introducing me to Stoll! 😀

    Tom

Thanks so much for opening your home, attending Stoll’s show, and helping me pull off the surprise! It was priceless. It was a great night of music and we met a new friend, the former owner of Hemingway’s in Marietta.

I’m glad you liked Stoll and he was able to pull out a cover of a female vocalist for you! I’ll post the link to “Jolene” in a few days.

Hopefully she will be able to play for a decent amount of time, Lafayette. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

Tift played solo acoustic as Amos Lee’s opening act. I enjoyed her set much more this go round.

I just received an alert she is going to play the Woodsongs Old Time Radio hour this Monday, July 26, in Lexington, KY. I would love to see her play that show, it’s a beautiful theater, but I need to cool my jets on road trips for now. A rebroadcast of Woodsongs shows airs on XM radio, and are podcasted, audio and video, for their archives so I look forward to those links.

A quick look at her schedule has her back in Cincinnati, opening for Josh Ritter. Stoger, if you read this thread, you may want to glance at Tift’s schedule, she’s making appearances in and around your home state of TN.

So many things going on in this thread! 😆

First, to lwj, I actually saw Mike Younger (for the first time in 3 years) the later part of June. He played a small bar AND a Studio 89 at WNKU 89.7. Mark him down as June 27 & June 28.

In regards to adding to my top 5 performers, I may be adding to the list (Tom & Sandy, as it’s looking better) Lu’s Saratoga show! Sandy, unfortunately, this isn’t one of your shows, the shows you are attending will definitely not work for me.

I’m on the fence in regards to Chuck Prophet. I would love to see him live, however, I also know I need to keep my rear home for awhile if I plan on heading to CA? See my dilemna? I will think about Chuck since ya’ll have been raving about him so much.

I have tickets for Thursday to see her open for Amos Lee at the Orange Peel in Asheville, NC. I’m anxious to hear her with the band. I felt like she was “lost” solo acoustic the last time I saw her.

It took 3 hours of effort to get these tickets, but it paid off with front row seats. 😀

Scoring front row seats to see a performer you love and admire is the biggest rush, at least, for me! Congrats, Sandy, on your perserverance!
