Letterman interviews aren’t really in depth to me.
I much prefer John interviewed by someone from NPR.
Lafayette, is this something new for John sporting the start of a beard ?
Also, I see he will be one of the first performers at the new Austin City Limits venue in downtown Austin.

Yes, JM playing ACL, a first for him. I was going to go but decided against. I’m saving travel favors for (hopefully) Lu & Amos shows during that time period. Amos is playing The Ryman on the 8th of April with The Secret Sisters so I opted for that show over JM. 😯

    World cafe interview from Friday.

Wrist is so much better, lwj. Today, so far, I’m almost back to my old self. Feels good after two months of pain and discomfort. I now have hand therapy to get back range of motion.

Another must on my bucket list…catch solo acoustic Lu show!

I’m not sure the Jazz Festival gig will work for me as it’s on the other end of our trip, however May is long way off…anything can happen.

I feel this way about JM being overlooked for “No Better Than This.”

    Great synopsis, lwj!

The broadcast is posted now on NPR

ALSO, for those going to the Lu/Levon show, Amos posted this on his FB page after his opening stint with Levon.

” Thank you to Levon Helm and his band for having us play at the Ramble, and for an inspiring performance. If you havent been to one, make sure to make it a priority, its like nothing else.”

I’m listening now lwj…I missed the first 8 minutes or so tuning in to “Violin.” Did I miss “Clear
    Blue Eyes?”

Thanks for the reminder lwj. I would have forgotten. He makes a previously recorded televised appearance with Zac Brown band on CMT Artist show on Friday at 8:00 pm EST airing on CMT. Unfortunately, CMT is not in our cable package.

I hope cast and pins are removed on Monday. I’ve been compliant on taking extra Vitamin D and calcium to promote healing, as ordered, so i hope the fat lady sings.

I <3 this forum, its members and management, i.e.Tom O. This site works for me...warts, crumbs, and all. I am huge fan of Amos Lee and his site is bare bones with no fan forum. Looks like an independent artist’s website. Much of his communication is done thru his FB page. I roll with it, but that’s me.

“Clear Blue Eyes” (featuring Lucinda Williams)
I’m not friends with any celebrities, really, but I see a lot of stuff that’s happening to people who are children of famous people. That song was in response to someone who I felt was deciding that their needs were greater than their children’s needs. I feel for those kids, I really do—it’s hard enough to be sixteen years old without the whole world knowing what the hell is going on with you. We sent Lucinda the track, and she brought a whole different dimension to it. It really completed the circle to have her on there. I’m a huge fan, so it’s also really humbling.

You have some pretty notable guests on it, including Willie Nelson and Lucinda Williams. How did you recruit them?

I have a connection to Willie. There were a couple songs where we wanted to have some other voices. I never really had guests on my other records; it’s always just been me. I had Norah [Jones] play on my first one and Lizz Wright. On the last record, I didn’t have any other people singing on it with me. I never had anybody take a verse on one of my songs and we were thinking of people that would sing the songs well and represent them well. We just put it out there to go to the people who we love and respect the art that they make and the way they approach their careers. We were very fortunate to get everybody.

No -definitely not purged or in doubt. It seems someone–namely me–jumped the gun an putting those dates up before the those two festivals officially announce their lineups. As a result we were asked to take them down until that announcement has been made. Oops 😮

Oops, do you suppose they will write me and ask me to purge the comment I just left on Lu’s FB page? 😆 😯

We confirmed two new dates today, and since Lafayette is apparently able to read my email I thought I better post them before she did:
5/5 -New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival
    5/8 -Houston International Festival
