LafayetteParticipant
Media blitz to promote their new record. I would almost bet Lu is mentioned in one of these interviews.
OTR Promo Tweets:
Tuesday 02.08.2010:On air interview with John Patrick – WNKU @ 1:30pm (EST) stream @ http://bit.ly/HzEF [JP is the music host I like the most]
Tuesday 02.08.2010:OtR on NPR’s ALL THINGS CONSIDERED with Melissa Block (either @ 4:35 or 5:35PM EST) stream @ http://n.pr/d5I7Cs
LafayetteParticipantI cannot offer any advice on these festivals, however, there are message boards associated with NOLA and I believe Beale Street you may want to investigate.
Have a wonderful Maycation! I wish I could stow away with ya’ll.
LafayetteParticipantWhen is your show, lwj?
LafayetteParticipantLooks like Dylan had an opening gig at The Orange Peel. Photo included.

Dylan LeBlanc (pictured below; the 21 year-old Shreveport, Louisiana singer/songwriter who was just hand-picked to open for a number of Lucinda Williams dates next month) closed out his set with an atmospheric cover of Neil Young’s “Harvest Moon.”
LafayetteParticipantBlurb about the 3rd Minneapolis show. It’s mentioned this is a solo acoustic show. Oh, and that she’s the queen of Americana. 8)

After selling out two shows in a few days, Lucinda Williams has added a third one at the Dakota Jazz Club. Tickets ($50 and $60) to her Feb. 22 gig will go on sale Monday.
The queen of Americana is playing solo acoustic shows to preview her exceptional new CD, “Blessed,” which will be released March 1. In a recent interview from Los Angeles, she promised to play material from her entire career as well as a different set list every night.
The Dakota gigs, Feb. 20-22, are her smallest shows in the Twin Cities since her debut at the 7th Street Entry at First Avenue. She did play a duo show with guitarist Doug Pettibone at the O’Shaughnessy in St. Paul in 2006.
LafayetteParticipantlwj…Review of last night’s show, kickoff of second leg. John has mixed up the setlist from last leg (YAY!). It was also noted on mellencamp email list he performed a “real” encore (which he has repeatedly said he does not like, however, he must have caved from complaints of noncompliance from past shows.) The encore was “She’s So Tough” a Mink Deville song (1978). According to band members trading emails with website coordinator…”it was tried as a true encore and was pretty rocking and John killed it by all accounts.”

I haven’t watched this yet, my browser (s) freeze 99% of the time when trying to launch YT. We can’t figure it out, yet, it’s a mystery.
Lafayette, try updating your Flash player (if you haven’t already done so). Here is a link…

I’ll have to send you a PM, Tom. Thanks!
LafayetteParticipantIncredible review. The buzzzz is beginning & it’s so exciting!
BTW…I am so digging the press photo ^ above^. It’s perfect, like a painting. The look on Lu’s face, her clothes,( I love the contrast of the buttons on her blouse, the over the knee boots (yeah baby!) and holding the guitar that always gets me pumped when I see her strap it on. I know she’s really ready to rock the house when that baby comes out.
LafayetteParticipantDylan had a recent sweet tweet.

MR: How did your Lucinda Williams collaboration come about?
AL: I think Lucinda’s Car Wheels On A Gravel Road was one of the records I was really drawn to when I was first writing songs. Her work as a writer and a singer has always touched me deeply. When we were thinking about that song, to me, there was always a female voice in there singing the second verse. When Joey and I were talking about who we could get to sing the part, I really heard her voice on it. We reached out to her, and she happened to be in the studio at the time, so we sent it over. I feel like, as a listener, she takes the song into a whole other place. It really changed the track for me from something that I liked, to something that absolutely had to be on the album.
LafayetteParticipantOK, OK, but pretty little poisons are toxic fluids, no? But I accept your PG version of my gaffe.
😀
LafayetteParticipantMost excellent! I would bet more high powered star reviews to follow. Looking forward to the deluge!
LafayetteParticipantSchedule for OTR includes some online listening opportunities. Odds are high for a Lucinda mention during their interviews. They are making an instore appearance next week at a Joseph Beth Booksellers. I’ve penciled it in with a note to arrive early. They are hometown favorites and I’m sure it will be packed.
