Thanks, stoger! I was watching a few songs, off and on but sadly missed 2 Kool.

I enjoyed watching both nights and was very thankful for the live feed!

I think both of these shows were extremely cathartic, for both Lu and the audience.

I believe this NPR post featuring 3 songs on video is from this show:

The fire and feel Lucinda Williams brought to the Lincoln Center stage when she headlined this August concert is informed by 25 years of making music. Deeply informed by tradition, her work remains determinedly individualistic and envelope-pushing.

In musical dialogue with her longtime guitarist, Stuart Mathis, Williams pulled evocative pages from her big songbook, going back to 2003 for the soul-stirring “Fruits Of My Labor” while showing her continued currency with recent selections like the empathetic character study “West Memphis” and the soaring, attitudinal “Foolishness.”

Williams made no bones about her progressive politics while vamping through “Foolishness” like Americana’s own version of Nina Simone. Mathis answered her improvisations with slicing guitar lines of his own. It never took long for Williams to transform the night’s mood from quietude to fervor. Then she exited, inimitable spirit intact.

    SET LIST

    “Fruits Of My Labor”
    “West Memphis”
    “Foolishness”

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

I was deep with family visiting, hardly time to engage in social media.

Looking forward to your January reports, tonyg!

How wonderful the nod Lu gave to you, stoger!

I so love the way Lu embraces her many fans. It’s a rarity.

Great report, stoger! Thanks so much for posting, I had intentions on taking the reigns to give you a break, however, you’re posts are more timely than mine these days.

Pre show was nice, albeit pricey dinner, however, the companionship was endearing. Miss my FF friends.

Nice seeing the NJ contingent and meeting backstreets after the show.

Regarding the show, it’s always good for me, regardless of mini/major meltdowns. As fans, we get it. As fans, as TO mentioned, we’ve also seen, time after time, Lu digging deep to make it right for her fans. The band had her back as well. They were digging just as deep for mama. In the end, she was smiling, and it was all good. At least for me, it was. PLUS, 2 Kool 2 Be-Forgotten! 😀

The room sounded fantastic, we were crammed in like sardines. I went with a feed on FB at the beginning of the show. I always have the intention of broadcasting just a few songs, but don’t have the heart to shut it off after I see the people on my friends list tuning in, ones that typically don’t interact on my page. The phone battery died before the hiccups on stage. I can’t bear to watch the footage again, I’m fairly certain I’m singing along on some songs and the mic picked up my vocals. A singer, I am not. 😳

    Happy New Year to all!
