yeeeea now i figure it’s just a matter of time before Lu sees that !!!
You’re dealing with semi-professional internet stalkers, here, don’t you know?
I certainly shouldn’t be speaking for Lu, but I think many artists are flattered when they are covered.

It is a Gibson J-45 -she’s been playing it for years. It actually had a little mishap on a tour bus a couple years ago and has a hole in the back so it’s getting time to retire this one.
Willie’s has a hole in the front… ๐
LafayetteParticipant“Undamned” (from the Long Surrender) with Over The Rhine. Lucinda and Karin are both “washed” out by spotlights, but nonetheless, it’s on tape.

A dignified Native American (who looks a little like Will Sampson) is looking me straight in the eye from the cover of my deluxe. A nicely drawn feather contains the word “Blessed” on his sign. 8)
The Native American (who doesn’t mind being called an Indian ๐ฎ , according to his testimonial,) the children playing, and the couple kissing ranks as my top favorites, for now.
LafayetteParticipantI’m looking forward to seeing you play with Lu…I may get my chance in New Orleans. ๐
I found this on your website…your cover of “Just Wanted To See You So Bad.” 8)
LafayetteParticipantI would love to see added friendly forum members taking their “Blessed” photos and posting them… ๐
LafayetteParticipantEvery now and then I come up with a good one, even if it’s a knockoff of an outstanding marketing concept with the album.
LafayetteParticipantI always look forward to your reports, stoger. Carry on, oh faithful road warrior.

Ummmmm, not quite, Lafayette! I think there is one more thing you need to post… ๐
Tom
I almost forgot… ๐ณ
“Blessed”
LafayetteParticipantMy delivery date, per your advice to log in and check my account ๐ณ , has my EDD (estimated delivery date) as March 3, 2011.
I’ll take a photo and post, unless, of course, I receive the same as others…
LafayetteParticipantStill the Kodak, lwj ๐ฎ
The “toning” is the “cartoon” edit feature in photobucket. ๐ I thought it was way cool.

That wraps up my Nelsonville coverage. 8)
LafayetteParticipantMy local NPR station today spun 2 “Blessed” songs, one in the early morning hour and one in the afternoon slot and a follow up non “Blessed” tune for the drive home with “Unsuffer Me.”
“Buttercup” and “Sweet Love” were the two tracks played from “Blessed.”
Don’t forget to call and request! Is there an updated radio station list for us to use?

…but the funny thing is that the most moving letter on blessed for me, as a causal listener (not really), is “sweet love”, which is focused on a single person and not on the world.
Here you go, mr. casual listener (not really). As performed at Stuart’s Opera House:
“Sweet Love”
LafayetteParticipantColor me extremely disappointed. No “Blessed” deluxe CD in the mail for me (from Amazon.)

18) Heโs God โ โI learned this from a guy named Blind Pearly Brown โ a blind preacher street singer โ my dad took me to see when I was 6 years old living in Macon, Georgia. My first musical influence I can remember. You can find his music out there if you look.โ
โSending this out to Christopher Hayseed Wyant; he wrote one of my favorite songs โ โI got a God-shaped hole in my soulโ.โ
โI used to, in the heyday of the feminist movement, used to say โSheโs Godโ.โ
I was doing some research on this song while it is uploading on YT and came across some interesting (to me) FYI. I love the expanse of Lucinda’s musical influences. ..
Here is some info on Blind Pearly Brown:

I found Hayseed’s website, where Lu is mentioned, along with a photo of her with Hayseed. Miller Williams is mentioned as well on the home page, a testimonial about Hayseed. I wish Hayseed would have made an appearance, especially with what seems as a mutual admiration.

“Hayseed’s music is roots music. Not from just one tree but a whole grove: bluegrass, old-time, country, gospel, folk, rock, soul…”
