Its possible but would probably involve Lost Highway. From what I know I would guess that its not at the top of the list at the moment. The focus is on finishing the new record and setting that up, reissuing the Rough Trade record, booking the tour , improving the website etc. Lots going on with Lucinda right now.

As far as the new record goes, 3/1 closes out the original scheduled recording time and everything is right on schedule. This week has been mostly given to adding the harmony and background vocals and a diverse and impressive list of singers are coming to sing. Everything continues to be very inspired, and everyone who has been in to sing has been completely excited by what they have heard and done.

I’m told it coming this year -but was not given a release date. The Imus Children’s Fund benefit cd that Lucinda sings “Mama Don’t Let Your Babies Be Cowboy” is coming on 5/27.

Probably not the best time to do a Dusty cover given that labelmate Shelby Lynn just did an entire album of Dusty songs. Good topic considering there is a very surprising cover that has been done for the new record, and will almost for sure make the cut from what i’m told. It is quite different from the original and far surpasses it, which is the key to a great cover. But it would be interesting to see what cover songs suggestions would come up here.

No -it is still being gone thru and will be addressed when the new record is finished. There are over 100 hours of footage so it is pretty daunting but what I have seen is pretty amazing, so there are several possibilities for it to appear and my guess is that it will surface sooner than later, and possibly in different pieces.

There are now 16 songs recorded, not all of which will make the final record and Lucinda and the band listened down to everything on Sat. night, taking notes for final changes etc. Basically all that remains at this point are a few final overdubs and some vocal harmonies to be added. It is probably 90% completed prior to mixing and mastering. After the listening session on Sat. everyone in the room was just completely thrilled in hearing everything as a whole-as an album that fits together top to bottom.
The people outside the studio, which includes the label, that have heard several songs, have been very very excited by what they have heard. I don’t want to use the term blown away etc., because that sounds hypish, but it is sounding very special.
And of course the last word is Lucinda and she has never been happier and more excited about a record she has made at this point in the process.
While it is very much a Lucinda record -it is different than any of her others and I think there will be some real surprises.

It was a last minute idea that just came up and Steve was asked if he would give JT a try during the break between sets- being a great sport he said he’d give it a shot. That’s why he had the lyric sheet in his hand etc., and most people thought it was pretty cool. He did do it again in NY with a little more warning.

There are also some completely brand new songs that are being fleshed out, and possibly some other surprises coming, and like I mentioned above 3 or 4 of those songs have changed fairly significantly in a very positive way, which has them sounding brand new.

Since a similar list has been printed elsewhere in this I guess it doesn’t hurt anything to print the list of what’s been worked on. to Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that a song will make the record just becuase it is tracked- and these are just some of the songs that have been worked on- and some have changed and greatly improved over previous versions:

    Honey Bee
    Jailhouse Tears
    The Knowing
    Tears Of Joy
    Rarity
    Real Love
    Well, Well, Well
    If Wishes Were Horses
    Circles & X’s
    Heaven Blues

There is no duet on Jailhouse yet, but there is a shortlist of names.
At this point the goal is for the record to be released in Aug/Sept.

Everything was started from scratch, with Doug, Chet, David and Butch. Rob Burger who played on West is also playing keyboards and various other instruments.

The sessions start in a couple weeks and are planned to go thru the beginning of March.
It is definitely planned for a 2008 release- probably Aug/Sept.

Nothing firm yet. Lots of possibilities -probably starting in June either in the US or possibly some European festivals.

Yes -it will be at the Village Recorders again. Great studio and Lucinda is really comfortable there. It’s kind of become her home studio. The band is going to be her band, with possibly someone coming in to do keys as needed. The production will be Lucinda, Eric Liljestrand who was the engineer on West and Tom Overby. They did the Fats Domino tribute song that way back in Aug. (and Mamas Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys, for a benefit album which hasn’t been released yet), and everybody really loved how that worked out, so it made sense to do the next record that way. I can also tell you that everyone is very excited about this record.
