Not in any way- it means Lucinda has two guitar players, and as a result a band that she loves– and believes is the best one she’s ever had.

Jackstraw- I’ve spent the last hour trying to track down the email trail between us, and I can find the post in the regular forum on Nov. 7 where you say “PM is on the way” , and I can find a response back to you from me on No. 8 where I’m apparently responding to your question about sending the defective WWT back -and i said no that’s fine -I’ll just have anew one sent. But the PM from you to me in between those is missing, which is very strange because I don’t delete anything. Anyway – if you can please PM your address again I will mail one out myself tomorrow. I don’t know how the @#$* this is happening but somehow a very few have slipped thru the cracks. My aplogies.

hyperionct- I believe you also should have received an email today, and yours also will be shipped asap. My apologies also.

Neil Young also has tried teleprompters and uses other lyric helpers, this was confirmed by a Lucinda crew member who used to work with Neil.
Ironically enough many major artists are going back away from teleprompters and using other means of assistance.

In Lucinda’s case she does know the words very well but just having them there is a big comfort–sort of like a safety net- getting the words exactly right is very important to her and part of her perfectionism. Another thing to keep in mind– this was a year that, because of the album shows she played every song from her catalog in addition to cover versions etc. By the end of the tour set lists were being made from a master list of over 100 songs. This is more than double and probably triple the average touring band has rehearsed and ready to play. In LA and NY nearly a 100 songs were played over five nights.
That undertaking alone created the need to look a little more than usual, even at songs that were the staples of the set.
After watching nearly every show this year, I also became of the mind that has she got more exhausted towards the end of the tour or even the end of the show she would look a little more. Towards the very end of the tour the book started to be placed slightly differently which also helped.
It is something she has been self conscious about in the past, but is now more comfortable with it (and many night now jokes about it), because of how many people use teleprompters and try so hard to hide them. Its just not in her mental makeup to be less than completely open- hence many of her song- and this is just consistent with that mentality – it is what it is -its open and its real and thats just her way.

A good story related to this topic: the afternoon of the Greensboro show when the Viet Nam vet had just given her a very moving letter about how he heard Are You Alright and was so touched by it, that he learned how to play it and went to Arlington cemetary and played it at the gravesite of his best friend/war buddy who had recently passed away. Lucinda was so touched by this letter that she wanted to do a special encore of peace/protest songs. She suggested Masters Of War and picked up her acoustic guitar that she has with her on the bus and played it all the way thru- not missing a word. When she finished she laughed and said “I haven’t played that for years and I remember the words better than my own.” The completely unrehearsed version she closed out the show with that night was one of the most spine-tingling performances that I have ever seen–and it was the only time it was played on this tour.

Lucinda did indeed get her license back and it was because a fan alerted her that it was on Ebay. She was very thankful for that, and proud that a fan of hers would do that. Thanks also to everyone here also. Let’s just say that there is a little more to the story, but it did all work out ok.

The name of the band is Green On Red, and was Chuck’s original band, but ironically enough he wasn’t the main singer whose name was Dan Stuart, who recorded a great album with Steve Wynn (Dream Syndicate) in the late 80’s under the name Danny and Dusty, which is a great record and worth searcing out. They just recently put out a second record which I haven’t heard yet.
The Green On Red records are great and somewhat hard to find, although I believe some of their catalog still being in print. I recall that there is a great double cd collection, but i don’t know if that is still around.

I had hoped that the setlists would have been updated by now, but unfortunately they ended up with our production mgr in Philadelphia who offered to forward them a week ago to our website person, but apparently that hasn’t happened yet, and he is now out of the country for a few days.

First of all -no Lucinda is not pregnant.

Everyone certainly is allowed to their opinion, but I sometimes wonder if someone is watching the same show. Of course having been there and having seen the entire show may make me biased. But for what its worth I can tell you that everyone there that night left feeling they had seen something special. And by everyone I mean not just the audience, but also the staff at the ACL who thought it was not only Lucinda’s best show ever there, but one of the best shows they had had there in a very long time.
Yes, she has been uncomfortable in the past with TV shows, but on this night she got past it and got on a roll. ACL had allotted for a set of 90 minutes, but the show hit such a momentum that they just let her keep playing and the set ended up being over 2 hours, so I don’t think she was very anxious to get it over with.
I know for a fact that it was very difficult for Lucinda’s people to have to cut it down to a half hour, and inquiries were made about expanding it to an hour, but it couldn’t happen. Unfortuantely, as a result a lot of great performances hit the cutting room floor.
And lastly, and most importantly, (given that I have seen that question asked elsewhere in this forum), Lucinda does not have a substance abuse problem, and never has- as some people here may know she has lost friends to substance abuse (and has written about it) and is actually quite horrifed of anybody doing anything worse than pot. She drinks nothing but red wine anymore, Cabernet to be exact. And never before a show, especially when its going to be on what is basically national TV.
So hopefully we can set the record straight once and for all on that topic- but unfortunately that is probably not the case.

I believe the guitar you are talking about is the one that Doug Pettibone plays on Righteously. It is a Trussart guitar, custom made by James Trussart who is based in Los Angeles. Lucinda also has one of his guitars- a Telecaster model.

All of the new shirts are American Apparel, which were the highest quality and most expensive shirts available from the t-shirt vendor.

Zilla0902– I did a little more digging into your initial order and looked into the tracking. The ship to address was your old one. I will PM you the details.
In any event I had the 9/30 order overnighted for AM delivery today and the 10/16 order went out on Fri. so it may also make it today or tomorrow.
The customer service here does matter to me very much and nobody is as disappointed with the problems as I am. Unfortunately, as the fantastic number of orders came rolling in the number of problems also multiplied, which caught us off guard, and I say us in the truest definition of the word because at the time there was two of us working thru everything. While that has now been rectified, I was also very disappointed with how long it took for our store to get connected to the fulfillment company etc. and the already delayed orders to get shipped.
I guess what I’m trying to say is that it was not a customer service issue so much as a resources being overwhelmed issue. But neither really matters until your orders arrive which as I mentioned above, should be today and tomorrow. I hope that resolves everything as satisfactory as possible. I apologise for all the headaches and hope you enjoy the cds.

    Sincerely
    IJ
