I was in the last group that did not get to meet Lucinda after the concert, Lucinda was beat after that long tour. So maybe I will get my chance in Athens. We did talk to David Sutton after the show, and he is a sweetheart.

I was in that group too!!! And so very grateful for the signed poster, which is happily at home on my wall.

I’m hoping Savannah is a go, and wishing I could make it to Athens!

I swear, I was actually going to write a blog entry about this EXACT THING sometime soon, as World Without Tears has been in my car’s cd player constantly for about three weeks ago. It’s so honest it hurts.

I wish the album version of Wrap had been 12 minutes long!

    Can you say “cancelclass”?

Signed, One Who Has Done It

Hmmmm … That is a good idea. Except isn’t that near mid-term? Man, maybe we can have a class trip instead …

Totally agreed, Tom — but I really, really hope the date for Athens changes — it’s one of the two nights a week I teach!!!

She lives in Georgetown, KY so I’m guessing she is a professor at the University of Kentucky. Great blog — and she linked to it on her twitter feed.

She recently moved to Statesboro, Georgia and is a professor there. And a poet. And thank you! 🙂

Hmmmm. Interesting, I suppose it is complimentary in that Lu is included in a short list that includes The Beatles, Bob Dylan & Wilco?

I love the way you’re looking at this, Tom! 🙂

I have to admit I’m kind of lost when it comes to this thread — West is high on my list of Lucinda albums, and I absolutely love “Wrap My Head Around That.” Even though it does push 9 minutes, there was a time a few weeks ago that I listened to it on repeat. Admittedly, that was because it pretty much perfectly described what I was going through at the time, better than I ever could (which is true of just about every Lucinda song, come to think of it). Maybe you have to be in the right place in life for it.

Were you wearing a tie-dyed t-shirt? If so, I definitely sat right behind you — and I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet you, too! 🙂

Thank you for the link to Rev. Pearly Brown — I can’t wait to check his work out.

AH! That makes sense! Thanks for clearing that up — and for the set list, too. I forgot about that Fats Domino cover.

Tom, I think you actually sat right in front of me! And “Car Wheels” was unbelievable last night. Unbelievable. What a show!

Any idea what upset her early on, though? Was she talking about the flashes from the camera or the sound?

She is a human being. If Lucinda’s music teaches us anything, it’s to acknowledge, accept, and even embrace humanity, even if it’s sometimes disappointing.

I hope she plays “Car Wheels”! I’m beyond excited for Macon: not only will it be my first time seeing Lucinda, it’ll be my real first concert. And I’m in my 30s. Seriously. If she plays “Car Wheels” and “Come On,” I may vanish into joy.
