That’s an excellent site, Lefty–I’ve been following it all week. They say they’ll ad one new trick every day until election day, but it seems like they added a bunch today—“Joe The Lightbulb”, “Joe The Chair”

Be sure to open the office door a few times in a row.

    But my favorite

I was a bit put off when I first saw the constant eye-check of the notebook during the Crest Show in Sacramento, but after a song or two, the strength of her performance and the appeal of songs I hadn’t heard before chased away any such feelings with a quickness.

I had wondered if she was losing her memory or something sinister, but later I found an interview (and I am sorry to say I can’t remember where—what’s that say about MY memory?) where she had said she realized it might put people off, but that she used it mainly as a security blanket. That explanation was good enough for me. IJ’s contention that she’s a perfectionist and wants everything to be “just so” works for me too.

Now if she could just remember where to put the capo 😉

So little Skylar, the baby genius—-does he do a good version of Zeppelin’s “I’m Gonna Crawl”?

The CD of the “Crossing Jordan” soundtrack is available on Amazon for seven bucks, new.

Apart from Lu’s cover of Tom Waits’ Hang Down Your Head, you get Alison Krauss doing Can’t Find My Way Home, and Richard Thompson doing a blistering version of Donavan’s Season Of The Witch.

Not to mention series star Jill Hennessey’s versions of It’s All Over Baby Blue and others.

    Worth it.

I used to have a VHS either from HBO or some other cable channel that was a concert called ” The Women Of Country Music” or something like that, and featured Roseanne Cash, MC Carpenter, Patty Loveless, Kathy Mattea and Lucinda… Lu looked kind of 80s if I remember correctly and did “Hot Blood” and maybe Passionate Kisses with MCC. Does anyone else remember this show, or has the THC finally caused irreparable brain damage?

illbeyou i feel like a dope—I was slightly misinformed. It’s Richard Cheese and His Lounge Against The Machine band at Harlows 10/18. A bit of a step-down, eh?

    Sorry for the false hopes.

I’ll have to disagree with Mary on some points.

The show was excellent up until the meltdown, and although I agree she might have been too hard on herself, I’d have to add that she was pretty rude to Doug P., angrily scribbling notes in her huge cheat book and pointing them out to him. She fumed for the rest of the set (two more songs) after seeming to have such a good time earlier. All this after explaining that it was a new song they’d never played live. She had the crowd eating out of her hand and she flipped out.

In the area I was in, front of house left, everyone was bopping, and the crowd was raucous throughout. I think if it had been a play, we’d have been asked to leave or at least calm down.

As for no one ever plays here, I’ve seen great live music here over the last couple years of acts like John Prine, Richard Thompson, and Neil Young to name a few nobodies. Upcoming shows include Kris Kristofferson, Flogging Molly and Rage Against The Machine. Heck, even Neil Diamond 😉

Points I’m happy to agree with—excellent show overall, hot band, and new songs that make me very eager to get my hands on the new album.

I’ve seen Lucinda many times before, without the meltdown or the lyric book, and this was still one of the best shows by her I’ve seen.
