^ For once?! You Europeans get all the great nifty stuff – you still even get CD singles. Americans haven’t had CD singles with all their interesting live version, remixes, B-sides etc. for many years now.

“Real Love”‘s exclusivity here for a little while ago was a rare positive for this side of the pond.

I completely agree. There’s nothing worse than driving back and forth from different retailers playing a guessing game about which has the superior version of the album.

By the way, if anyone could upload a link to the demo of ‘Words’ from iTunes and send it to me I would be MOST appreciate. I have wanted this for over a year, and have bought the album 3x, but as a rule I don’t buy digital albums unless there’s a damn good reason – 9.99 for 1 song is not a fair enough reason. That said, that particular song is one of my favorites.

The only demos I have from ‘West’ are ‘Unsuffer Me’ and ‘Everything Has Changed,’ although I believe there is one of ‘Rescue’ out there, or am I wrong?

My mom absolutely LOVED the show, and getting in and out of the city/train station/venue could not have been more smooth for us. Theatre @ MSG really is a convenient venue for Tri-state area folks, although Lucinda seemed a bit disenchanted by some of the empty seats and remarked that perhaps the venue was “too big for me.” I certainly hope not. It’s certainly not even close to big enough to accomodate all her talent.

We were both able to see perfectly well, and we both absolutely loved the setlist choices. “Little Rock Star” is AWESOME. Buick 6 sounded great before and after Lucinda’s arrival. It was awesome to hear “Steal Your Love” and “Essence,” and I can’t get enough of “Real Love” and “Joy.”

My mom really has fallen remarkably for Lucinda’s music, and now her presence as a live performer as well. It’s great when you can share someone as wonderful as Lucinda with your family and they too understand it.

Happy Birthday to Tom, by the way. 🙂

^ Thank you both. Standing outside waiting for her took its toll on my one leg – I feel sharp pains in my right shin, probably from leaning too much on it – but just thinking of how beautiful the LP looks with her signature on it is more than consolation. Also saw her perform tonight with my mom and Lucinda ROCKED the house, and she did a lot of surprises from “Essence” I didn’t expect to hear and also “People Talkin'” which is one of my favorites. My mom had a BLAST.

Thanks for all the help everyone. My mom is indeed coming. We’re both really looking forward to tonight. I’ll report on how things went. 🙂

Has Buick 6 really been playing for a solid hour? That’s kind of a while for an opener. I’m a little worried about my mom complaining about that since she doesn’t typically stay up late on weekends, but she’s willing to come to this show anyway because she’s become as taken with Lucinda as I have. 🙂

In spite of the lack of affirmation I showed up and can count myself a lucky fan. 🙂

I was in the crowd of folks waiting to get their eBay-ready items signed by Bill Hader and Calista Flockhart. Hader was very kind to all, just a really nice guy, Flockhart pissed everyone off by not signing anything.

Everybody thus left, and before I knew it save for a few onlookers with cameras I was the only person there really waiting for Lucinda. Even Paul Schaeffer and Alan Kalter left before she did. Until she came out I looked kind of silly standing there with my “West” LP. At least 20 gawkers eyed my LP quizzically as they strolled down the street. It’s not a comfortable feeling, but it was worthwhile.

At about 5 after 6 she strolled out and on her way back to her tourbus she signed my “West” LP and was also generous enough to sign my s/t CD cover. I mentioned tomorrow’s concert, among other things, and she seemed genuinely excited about it. She was such a total sweetheart; everything I could have hoped she would be based on what others on here have revealed.

Can’t wait for the show tomorrow.

I more or less agree, although this coming Friday will be my 3rd time seeing Lucinda, 2nd full Lucinda show (2nd time I saw her was opening for Mellencamp), so it’s easier for me to be immediately enchanted by any typical setlist at this point.

The only full Lucinda show I’ve seen previously was the s/t show at Town Hall last year, which was a REAL treat for me as a relatively new (West’s release, heard ‘Like a Rose’ in Transamerica, etc., only admired her from afar before that) fan who only knew a few songs from the s/t record – it was AWESOME to be introduced to that particular album, most of which I did not know, and Lucinda as a live act at the same time.

Still, these shows she did last year proves how splendidly she can pull off the older material. There’s really no limit to what she can do. So I will certainly add my voice to the bouquet to encourage her to please pull out some older gems from the first few albums.

I know I for one would go NUTS to hear “Sidewalks of the City” or “Little Angel, Little Brother” or for that matter anything from “Sweet Old World,” arguably my favorite Lucinda record. I would also LOVE to hear “Those Three Days.”

    🙂

I agree with Howa, although I would personally be happy with the above setlist.

^ thanks. if it makes you feel any better, Lucinda’s appearing in my area and, even though I checked Ticketmaster and this site every day to make sure I would be there when they went onsale, American Express has made it IMPOSSIBLE for me to see her. so I’m missing out even though she’s within reach.

Just as I worried – the tix for NY’s show were instantly sold out the moment they went “on sale.” What a world we live in that that is actually considered normal. Looks like I won’t be seeing Lu this fall.

Did anybody actually pull up anything this morning for NYC?
