I as at the Wellmont, and I have to say that I agree with you. As much as I liked the setlist, and Lucinda’s energy/voice last night–the new band took away from my pleasure. They’re a good rock n’ roll band, true, but let’s not forget that that’s only part of what Lucinda does–it seems Tom’s taste is getting too involved in the sound Lucinda is putting out. Less metal, more country, more southern gothic…

the thing is fucking amazing–and ‘masters of war’ is worth a million bucks.
only thing–the bass is mixed in this weird way so that it ruins my listening experience–too booming!
…well here’s hoping they’ll also release the full performance from 2007–the four songs or so of it that I saw were amazing!

I really like the way Lucinda has been structuring her sets lately and I think seeing the thing in order is very important.
the version of Memphis Pearl she did for the radio segment is just perfect! I didn’t really appreciate the version on Sweet Old World (it’s too schlocky for me, you know?)
