Hey this is a great thread. Not only an I learning what you all like, I’m reading great lyrics of artists that I’ve never heard of !
This is from my childhood…
Take a gun and shoot your friend,
As long as you take your turn..
When you’re only six years old,
You own the world – You got friends to burn..
If you wanna be an Indian Chief,
Or a sheriff; Respect you’ve got to earn.By Brian Cadd about 1972
You probably couldn’t write that these days without being banned, or sued, but it’s about innocence, anyone remember innocence ?
gronkParticipantThanks dr winston for the warm welcome.
I bought a copy of West, and I will work through the catalogue slowly so as not to miss anything.
I have also started working on my friends, and if they know what’s good for them, they’ll get on board! 8)
Best of all, now I’ve found this place I can read everything and get up to speed on Lucinda’s career.
Love,Peace and Revolution to you too (though not necessarily in that order!).
gronkParticipantI tuned into an internet radio station, just for a change. Nice to hear some different stuff, you know, stuff you wouldn’t choose yourself. Well this song came on, and I’m stunned by the voice. The lyrics are more of a journal than any sort of entertainment, but it is so compelling that I have to find out who/what /where. The song was called Pineola, from the Filmore set, and forty odd years of being a music fanatic couldn’t prepare me for that voice.
We don’t get much Lucinda in Melbourne, Australia. So I downloaded a live concert and soaked it up. Have to say that Fruits of my labour is my favorite, but I’m betting that there’s plenty more.
What a voice, and what a joy to hear it !
