Crying, lord, I wonder will I ever get back home, lord, lordy, lordI went to the depot, looked up on the board
I looked all over, how long has this east-bound train been gone? It’s done taken your fairo, blowed it’s smoke on you
It’s done taken your fairo, blowed it’s smoke on you, lord, lordy, lordLord, I asked the conductor, – could I ride the blinds?
Spoken: -want to know, can a broke man ride the blinds
– son, buy your ticket, buy your ticket, ’cause this train ain’t none of mine
– son, buy your ticket; train ain’t none of mine– son, buy your ticket, ’cause this train ain’t none of mine, lord, lordy, lord
Train ain’t none of minegravel roadsParticipant1) Shows that would have a chronological setlist like the second set of the first show in Mpls or the show in Madison 8
2) Shows that would have split sets -with the first set being ballads etc, a break, and then the second set being rock 10 great idea!
3) Similar to number 2– in larger cities where we could do it or where the right venue exists–doing two nights, with the first night being the ballads etc and the second night more rock 10
4) Closing the year with a return of the album shows -probably only in one city 8
5) Don’t change anything -I like the shows as they are. 10 as most feel here (i surmise), we love to see lucinda play in any fashion/form!
In a different and more general category:
1) To offset the venues that charge Ticketmaster fees -we are considering offering those fees back as a credit at the merch table -does this have appeal 92) Being aware of the past fan club fiasco- does a fan club hold any appeal if it made sense and had value? 9 yes for pre-sale tickets or any potential inside information, but i agree with others that this website is sufficient as a fan club!
3) The possibility of being able to buy tickets before the general public -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (9
4) More live releases -(possibly as part of a fan club?) 9
4a) Digital only
4b) Prefer cd–yes5) What cities have we missed?–stephen talkhouse in amagansett ny (ha! kind of a joke)
6) And last but not least, what did I miss?–consider this the suggestion box.–i will ponder this one
November 12, 2008 at 2:17 am in reply to: Top 10 Rare Songs You Would Like To Hear Lu Play Live. #38142gravel roadsParticipantBill
I am not entirely sure if she wrote this song. anyone know?
gravel roadsParticipanti am so thrilled to hear about rarity and that it seemed to run cohesively with everyone in the band in santa cruz. i was so excited when i saw she played it live again a few weeks ago! i think that song is just amazing. i have never heard it live…listened it first on a couple of bootlegs…shouted it out at many shows on the east coast last year hoping she would play it. i would have been happy to be the one to have heard three verses of it. looking forward to the album in october!
gravel roadsParticipant“I know some suits on her management team are trying to broaden her fan base, but John Cougar Mellencamp? What the @#!*#@
Excuse me while I throw-up. I’ll be sitting this one out ladies…”sorry, but i find this tasteless and rude.
gravel roadsParticipantThanks for your response, Tom. Hopefully it will put an end to these preposterous comments about Lucinda’s tour with John Mellencamp. It is surprising that people have the audacity to bitch about Lucinda’s tour choices on this forum. She obviously has a rhyme and reason for what she does, and I would imagine one that is well considered. Not to mention, John Mellencamp is great! But, like Tom said, justification is not necessary…
gravel roadsParticipantI thought so too. But, it seemed unlikely after reading some posts. If it is Tom, he likes to speak in the third person…or more likely trying to remain anonymous. Which I completely understand. In any case, he is very informative and obviously sincere, and responds to people’s questions and comments.
gravel roadsParticipantoh, i didn’t know who had hired lucinda to perform for YOU gretsch….like you would have a carpenter fix your back porch or a doctor look at your busted knee. who are you? would it really be more fun and would you get more out of it if lucinda performed a flawless show? i doubt it.
like she said the last night, she doesn’t want to get home, listen to these songs, and wish she had changed something. just let her do her thing. she’ll do it anyway. she always says that she couldn’t give a fuck anyway what people say.
gravel roadsParticipantLucinda you ROCKED! The first set was perfect. Side of the Road is stunning.
David Byrne’s voice is right there with Lucinda’s. The two of them together are unbelievable. As Emmylou Harris said in an article, Lucinda could sing the phonebook and give it meaning. Perhaps the two of them should do a duet album? like knoffler and harris..
gravel roadsParticipantI agree, Joan Osborne was dissapointing and so ordinary. I can’t possibly believe that Lucinda listens to her. The other special guests were great and unique.
It is a pleasure to hear the songs on Sweet Old World. “Sidewalks of the City” and “Little Angel, Little Brother” were the highlights for me.
