It was a magical show and for me a really interesting set list, well worth the trip up north and such a contrasting show to the London one. Lu genuinely seemed touched by the applause as she walked on. Really nice to hear Metal Firecracker, Motherless Children and the “specially requested” Bus to Baton Rouge. Something About What Happens When We Talk was absolutely stunning with great backing vocals from all of the band except Eric.

I was in the front row and the sound did seem a bit odd at first especially hearing the guitar amps directly, but I got used to it pretty quickly and it was a joy fest all the way from then, almost like being on stage with the band. 😀

    Hello Folks

I’m not a Berliner but I did make it along to the Berlin show. Lu & the band were first on (before Lambchop & Calexico) and played an abbreviated set which started just after 6pm and finished just after 7pm. There were no encores but Lu seemed to be enjoying herself greatly. I did notice what appeared to be a verbal altercation between one of Lu’s crew and another roadie with a lot of pointing to watches. A very enjoyable albeit concise set which was basically a cut down version of the previous night’s in Hamburg.

    09. Essence

The Hamburg (what a great venue) & Berlin (a great outdoor venue) shows were the first shows I have witnessed with the new band configuration and are actually the first times I’ve ever seen her without Doug on guitar. Chet certainly gets a few more solos and there’s also a lot more interaction between the two guitarists. There were one or two numbers where I missed Doug’s playing but the overall effect was negligible and probably just down to taste. I must say that I especially enjoyed Eric’s arabesque soloing on Essence.

Really looking forward to the UK shows in a couple of weeks time…

    Gute Nacht!

I concur with Brendan0707, having just purchased my first ever track download, “I Live My Life” from Amazon UK, it would be nice to get hold of the “Lu in ’08 EP” as well, any further news or progress?

    Thanks.
