I heard SXM hype this on Sat/Sun. Bakerfield Beat channel or Deep Tracks. They play some LW on the former station.

Happy New Year to all of you out there. I just got an e-mail from the promoter in OKC stating that all of the upcoming shows have been rescheduled till April with OKC set for Saturday, April 23, 2022. The show was(is) a birthday present to myself, so the birthday will just reconvene in April! ๐Ÿ™‚ I’m kinda glad to hear this info. That will mean a better chance for non-freezing weather and, God willing, less virulent Covid.

Stay safe and keep on rockin’ in the free world!

RE: OKC — Talked (e-mail) to the box office. They may have someone “returning” a 4 top table in the coming weeks. Box office said I could buy it. My concern is that I only need 1-2 tickets. _IF_ it comes available do any of you want to buy in to this table? My preference is to fill in a spot at a previously purchased table from one of you all.

    Thanks,
    DreamingMan (aka Tim)

F**k me! I lost track of time and hadn’t checked back for tour dates in a while.

I am definitely going to OKC show. Does anyone have a table seat for sale? The Douglass is a pretty cool, small venue. Saw Jeff Tweedy there @ 3 years ago.

That _is_ , if the venue will allow me and my wheelchair down that close. Some venues do and some don’t.

Same with KC (my bd!) or possibly Dallas. Will probably have to buy regular ADA / SRO ticket.

    Thanks,

Listened to Ghosts of Highway 20, El Rey Essence (09/06/2007) and KCRW (08/29/2007) this afternoon at work. I think this El Rey series was spectacular. Made work quite nice on a cool, rainy day in OKC.

btw … looking forward to the re-release ๐Ÿ™‚

I work 9 blocks from this place, The Paramount. I doubt I’ll be able to go, but I’ll take my recorder to work that day just in case the recording gods are friendly to me.

OKC isn’t far from TX. Come up and see us. I didn’t buy Barry Manilow, Bruce Springsteen, DMB or James Taylor, etc tix because I know that someone that I like more could come along … Lu … or NY & POTR would be a nice surprise, too.

    No tornadoes, I promise.

I usually go for the immediate gratification of setlist, but today I read the long, interesting posts by Tom posted quite a long time ago. I’ve been checked out of the Lu scene since her last trip through Tulsa and I’ve been getting some songs shot out of the CD shuffle from Blessed, so I am checking back into Lu.

I am about to order the 3 LP DWTSMTB set. Very, very excited about it. See what my mind remembers about Magnolia.

So, (The process of) West was recorded backwards?!? Fascinating! ๐Ÿ˜ฎ It is so damn good that it is hard to believe it could have been any other way. Then again, I should have known b/c of the alt versions of CWOGR & SOW. There probably one or two alt versions of every one of Lu’s albums. Would love me some alt Essence โ— โ— โ—

Gotto go order an album … actually see if my record store will have it, then I can pick up the new Wilco (2 or 3)LP that has … of all things live and alt versions. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Keep on rockin’ in the free world!

Sounds like a good show from the setlist and the review. Glad to see Stuart is still shredding for Lu.

Hope to see the band in OKC & Tulsa!

IBe aware that Lucinda’s show is part of the First Friday in Tulsa’s Brady Arts District–expect lots of people and traffic in the neighborhood.

We didn’t know about this and it was crowded as … firecrackers. I mean, you couldn’t swing a cat for hitting a couple people. It was jam packed.

I talked to people from Wichita, Miama (OK), Texas, Arkansas, OKC (me) and of course, Tulsa.

FWIW the crew and band did a great job in Tulsa. We really liked it. Come by OKC and we can do it again.

Stoger’s friend, Mark Humphreys, is back on the sound board for this mini-tour, after completing his latest tour with Neil Young.

WHAT?!? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ I briefly talked to him twice on Friday night. I almost wore my Neil Young Greendale tour shirt (2003) or Le Noise (2010), but instead stayed with the orange collared polo shirt. I’m a HUGE Neil Young follower and would have liked to ask him about Neil’s recent Alchemy tour.

Well, well, well, I would have to guess that my favorite songs were:
Out Of Touch (1st time hearing this one live, I think)
    Unsuffer me
    Magnolia
    Joy
    Am I Too Blue
    Honey Bee

The first set was a bit marred by the 60 y.o. lady who was (some type of) intoxicated off her a**. She fell backwards at one point and fell on a lady in a wheelchair. About four different people were holding her upright at one point or another. This was front row on the left side. I’m in a wheelchair, too, so I didn’t want her falling on me, too, so I had one eye on her and one on the band. It was kinda odd in that the girl I was with spoke to her outside on the sidewalk and inside the venue and she didn’t appear intoxicated at all – no slurred words – but she was toast 30-45 minutes after we spoke to her. โ“

During the second set I stayed back about three people, but one kinda tall guy got in my way for most of the second set. I should have asked him to let me in front of him, but I was afraid the intoxicated lady was going to reappear. I was expecting four songs as encore(s), but we only got two songs in one encore. Straight ahead tour opener. Stick to the basics, in my opinion. That’s not to say I didn’t like it. I really enjoyed the 2nd set and parts of the 1st.

Rockin’ In The Free World – this song was a BIG surprise to me. Lu needed lyrics book and glasses. “This is what 60 looks like (with BIG smile and thumbs up or maybe she was giving double birds – guy w/ BIG head was in my view)”
Pineola – the drummer was really hitting it hard. I know its a classic, but I didn’t expect it.
Out Of Touch, Unsuffer Me – great guitar by Stuart
Honey Bee – fast paced rocker as usual – I think this was debuted in Tulsa a couple years ago
Magnolia – beautifully awesome. I played JJ Cale version and I like Lucinda’s better.
Hard Time Killing Floor – good bluesy singing w/ a slick slide on the guitar

I should have taken notes. Guitars used by Stuart
Gibson hollow body – Dark brown (ES335?)
Gibson SG โ€“ cream white (played HTKF and a couple others w/ this one)
    Fender Telecaster (blond?)
    Fender Stratocaster

    Keep hope alive,
    Dreaming Man
