I think being seated quietens an audience – you’ve got to be standing to whoop and holler. It was very confortable indeed though which made me a little soporific at the end of a tiring day. My mother used to say it was better to stand when you’re drinking because it helps the beer circulate. Concerts are the same : it helps the music circulate… This time I felt I was in the presence of a real professional artist – at the previous Paris concert Lucinda seemed like a bit of an amateur with all the stopping and starting and bad nerves but it really revealed a very raw edge to her music and an unforgettable concert. The thing is, nervous, professional, amateur, whatever, she is just totally fabulous and a treat to see live.
corcovadoParticipantWho are the twins? Ou les jumeaux si vous préférez?
corcovadoParticipantI mean West not East. I do this all the time…
corcovadoParticipantFor a very long time my favourite was always the first album I ever heard by her. In fact I discovered it when I borrowed it from the public library in our small, sleepy town in Normandy. It blew my mind and is World Without Tears. I had to stop listening to it though because it made me cry too often.
Since the concert in Paris last Friday it’s Live @ the Fillmore. Shame we couldn’t get a Live @ the Trabendo! Also East has finally worked it’s way towards the top of the list.

I began to upload some videos on YouTube.
My identification there is mpk198379
Search “Lucinda Williams Trabendo” and you’ll find the first 5 parts out of 15.
The three next (Righteously, Essence and Come on) are longer.Fabulous videos Marclaff. If you could wear videos out, they’d be threadbare… Did you get Joy? I know there is a video on utube already but the thing is, you must have been standing right behind me because your videos correspond exactly to what I saw myself that night. Also I want to see the battle of the guitars on Joy!

Anyways, what I also didn’t expect (but should have!) was that there was an opening act. Unexpected—but very good! Who were those two guys?
One of them was David Ogilvy (spelling?). It was the first time in 35 years that I enjoyed an opening act. (Last time was Loudon Wainwright III!).
Did anybody catch the names of the photographers books that inspired 2 Kool?
corcovadoParticipantCan’t wait for tomorrow’s concert. If you’ve never been to the Trabendo before it can be a little difficult to find. The first time I went we queued at the Zenith for half an hour before we realised our mistake! As you walk through the park from porte de pantin/cité de la musique, it is in a wooded area on your right. It is signposted but not very well. If you get to a very large concert area – the Zenith – you’ve gone too far!
See you all tomorrow!

I ‘ll see Lucinda for the first time live next Tuesday in Basel and then again next Friday in Paris. Looking very much forward to those events. Can’t wait!!! Joe from Paris: Is the crowd in Paris usually an enthusiastic one?
I would say Paris crowds can be very enthusiastic but they are also very respectful. So no partying at the back of the hall like the English often do. Everybody listens and then makes loads of noise at the end of the song as opposed to during the song. I have seen concerts all over the place (I’m not French) and Paris is best! … but I’ve never been to Basel!
