Thanks.
Then it was Gil. So a shout out thanks to Gil.
Does Nick have a nickname, and if not, where is Flappy?
clintonctParticipantRather a hectic week, but tonight I finally have time to collect my thoughts. We made it front and center to the Calvin. I am so happy Buick 6 opens and get their fair share of praise independently. We are lucky to be able to see them find their new path, and meld rather than support. Their set always speeds by for me, and this time I found myself smiling through most of it. I am pretty obsessed with Butch, more so without Dougie, and when the drum solo takes flight, I am just zoned.
In Northampton, Lucinda did appear to be calmer (no false starts) and more confident like she was the first times I saw her in the late 80’s. I loved her growling period, beginning in 2004, but this is from the gut.
My personal highlights:
BLUE
RARITY
LITTLE ROCK STAR
MOTHERLESS CHILDWe waited around to request a set-list, which she stuck too pretty much, but ANGEL was listed for the encore, which didn’t happen. Not complaining, because I loved the set-list and will always charge to see Lu perform.
I adore this woman. She holds a special place in my heart. When we got home, had to watch the Charlie Rose Lucinda interview dvd from 9/10/2001. Lucinda’s New Haven concert was my last concert prior to 9/11, with Pete Seegar being my first post 9/11 concert.
This lucky fan got a pleasant surprise, when the guitar tech, not Flappy, but the other guy, Lefty or Tim help me here, came from backstage directly to me and gave me a drumhead signed by Butch… saying:
“Lu Little Honey”
Tour 2009
Butch “A Modest Man”
signatureTom, please say thanks to Butch. The memorbelia is hanging my music wall.
Please, please, please Lucinda, perform at the Newport Folk Festival 50th Anniversay this year.

Nancy, thanks for the photo link. Most enjoyable!
Thank you all for posting your thoughts. I really feel part of a great community here.

clintonctParticipantSince it is breaking down so much, perhaps it really will be uploaded to this website for us to listen to again. I am pleased I heard any of this show…. Lu, you are the best…. thanks and going to give you another few minutes, and then will call it a night.
clintonctParticipantyup, breaking up in Cromwell CT too! damn!
clintonctParticipantCome on…. that was to die for…. really sexy! We’re dancing!
clintonctParticipantThank you… this is great…found her stride…. having a Grey Goose martini on a work night…. it really is a special occasion and taping SNL because I wouldn’t want to miss this event in the Lucinda community!
clintonctParticipantHey Tim and Lefty,
Glad I made the trek up from CT.
When is release date for the Buick 6 album? They were excellent.
Lucinda was in a sweet rocking mood in New Haven, maybe because being Tom’s birthday, thanking fans for coming out and spending our hard earned money, but thought she enjoyed Albany, and commented what a great venue The Egg is 4-5 times.
Feel starting with REAL LOVE would have worked better for the audience as a whole, but I loved the set-list. I find her fascinating, never knowing where she will take us or if we are going to be invited along, but I always try to remember her words, that she is an artist and not a performer, and for me, there is no one like her. Ken, I’m sorry the live performance didn’t work for you.
LITTLE ROCK STAR slays me, and this was the first time hearing RARITY, which has so many layers. Can not wait for Tuesday’s LITTLE HONEY release. I missed JAILHOUSE TEARS, and the interaction with Dougie, but maybe next time, but ATONEMENT pushed my buttons. And her encore, starting with Skip James was intense.
That’s it for live Lucinda for me this leg of the tour. Hopefully she will return to the Newport Folk Festival next summer, for Fifty Years of Folk at Newport, and will bring along Elvis for JAILHOUSE TEARS live, and Steve Earle, facing an adoring audience and being part of Newport history!
Karen
clintonctParticipantWhat a great show and Lucinda’s mood… Happy Lady! I love the new stuff! Skip James tune and then later For What It’s Worth and with such a rocking finish It’s a Long Way to the Top. . . . My friend couldn’t join me, so I took my 23 year old goddaughter, who was thrilled to be there. She had been familiar with Lu, but after last night, and being only 5 rows from the stage so she got the full vision; she understood Lucinda.
Buick 6 does keep getting better, and Dougie, yes I am a member of his fan club!
See ya in Albany.
September 4, 2008 at 2:11 pm in reply to: October 7th – Albany – The Egg on sale September 4th #36972clintonctParticipantTook a chance, not becoming an EGG member, and got the pit – CC – 114 for $42.50. I’m pumped!
clintonctParticipantHey Tim and Lefty,
I’ve attended concerts at The Egg for Mary Black solo a couple of times, A Woman’s Heart Tour and Baez. As you guys said, it is a perfect venue. The Shubert in New Haven is a Broadway musical house… huge, but I feel we’re close enough to feel 75% of Lu’s energy.
I’m going to hold off with The Egg membership, even though I will be kicking myself soon… Will attend solo, and have been lucky there before with a single ticket. I’ll let you know when I cave for The Egg membership. I am considering taking that membership cash and going to the NYC show. A lot of stuff will be rambling through my mind between now and September 4th.
Been listening to Lu almost daily for about 3 years, so I’ll be dreaming about this too! Stated in a previous post, about seeing Lu probaby 20 times since 1990ish, but as I reflect on the years, it is closer to 40.
Thanks for your advice and interest for another Lucinda devotee!
Be well.
KarenclintonctParticipantThanks.
Yes. I received the pre-sale link last night, and logged in exactly at 10. Two seats, 5th row center. I hesitated when purchasing, thinking I might buy 4, which probably put me a tad back in the queue.
See you there!
clintonctParticipantI’m looking for a single, center, double digets. I’ve seen Lu probably 20 times, and missed the Boston show going on sale, due to being the caregiver for my Mom. I would be thrilled if a single seat became available for Boston, NYC, or anywhere within 120 miles of Hartford CT. I’ve been a Lucinda fan since a Folk Festival, at Great Woods, around 1990. The venue has changed names frequently, but I will never forget sliding again into the second row center, and Lu wailing. Great base, for many memories…. most recently Greenfield, and before that, The Calvin, in Northampton…. second row center…. the folks dead center, left when the encore began, and my friend and I jumped the seats, to be directly in front of Ms. Williams. PERFECT! No one can touch her poetry, besides Dylan.
thanks.
KarenclintonctParticipantThanks from Connecticut too…. and so many! FABULOUS and really special!
Now when the live performances become available for us to purchase on this website, those of us who were not there, will be able to see how Lucinda and the gang looked while on stage.
Thanks again.
KarenclintonctParticipantCount me in as a fan who would love to purchase the live concerts on this site or wherever. Thanks.
