CarlParticipant
I think a lot of people haven’t realised how easy it is to get to O2 / Indigo. The Dome’s reputation has stuck. Sunday was my 1st visit and we were all amazed how quickly we got there and got away – notwithsatnding Foo Fighters crowd coming out at the same time.
Coming down from north London, it’s much easier to get to than Shepherd’s Bush.CarlParticipantI’m in total agreement. What a great gig. Scorching band and Lu in a really happy mood. Loved the set. She played almost everything I wanted to hear (Crescent City would have made it nigh on perfect).
The venue was pretty good. I’m not too sure about the Marquee comparison, except maybe for the atmosphere. Great sound and good sight lines. I wasn’t drinking so can’t comment on the beer, but one of my mates said the Guinness he bought was the worst one he’s ever drunk.CarlParticipantEmmylou recorded Sweet Old World on her Wrecking Ball album, which I can highly recommend.
CarlParticipantGetting back to Ryan Adams Love Is Hell is pretty good as is Jacksonville City Limits.
I’d also recommend the Whiskeytown album Strangers Almanac, being the band he was in before going solo.
CarlParticipantI don’t know anything about this Imus character. He doesn’t sound too pleasant.
But I’m wondering why the word ‘judgemental’ is hurled about so freely in the posts above as though it’s an insult.
How does anyone get through life without making judgements every day? You stand or fall by them, good or bad. Who isn’t judgemental?
CarlParticipantThere must be hundreds, if not thousands of fans, who would like to get hold of the show discs. We’ve got no chance whatsoever of getting to the gigs if you live here in Europe, Australasia etc. so I go along with the idea of making them available through the website.
CarlParticipantThe Travelling Wilbury’s – mainly down to my wife who loves them and the re-released package.
Ryan Adams – Easy tigerCarlParticipantWe did a similar trip back in 2003. We were really lucky to find our itinerary and Lu’s meshed and we were in New Orleans at the same time as she was playing there at House of Blues. We got our tickets through the magic of the internet well in advance but were amazed to find out on the night of the show that it wasn’t sold out.
Great gig though. 😀
CarlParticipantMy wife Angela and I are both big fans of Lucinda’s and I think we like her pretty much in the same way.
Not long after Essence was released we were recommending it some friends. I said that after hearing the title song I needed to go and take a cold shower and Angela said that she did too. 😉
CarlParticipantThe last 2 times I’ve seen Lu over here in London she’s come on late – much later than her scheduled start time. It’s not just a problem as regards the curfew, but lots of people travel in from outside London and have to get trains back and are forced to leave before the end of the show to get home.
CarlParticipantI thought the reason was, that Lu heard the sound Steve Earle was getting on the I Feel Alright album (which she duets on) and wanted a sound akin to that album and ditched the already recorded recorded sessions made with Gurf.
Copies of the original Gurf produced album are around on the net, and the sound is much more of a country feel than the final released version.
