Blake I see that your former band was there. Did you get to see or play with them?
Yea! Had lunch today at Whole Foods with the old Dawes guys. Everyone seems in good spirits, some great stuff coming up this year for them. Very exciting.
blakeParticipantwow, what a night…
it was a long day; soundcheck at noon and stage time 12 hours later. lots of restless anticipation to get up there and get on with it. when we did, lu and band sounded fucking classic.speaking from my end, the protocol for the set was for val, dave, and butch to do just what they normally do, and for me to add to that. i’ll be honest, it was more than a little intimidating… what do you add to something that already sounds that good??!!
but we made it through, the crowd was very enthusiastic considering most of them had been in there for 4 or 5 hours already.
i really loved getting another chance to play with val. his thing is so natural to this band’s sound, and he makes it so musical – there were a few moments where he was so “on” that either i forgot to play or forgot that i was playing!
that’s all i can remember, like i said it was a looong day… but ask me anything! i’ll be back on a bit later, getting kicked out of hotel now!
blakeParticipanti’ll be there!
blakeParticipantHere, Here!
blakeParticipantthanks tony.
tom, i didnt see your last reply till just now! caught greg in the hall and passed on your guys’ well wishes, but just as a mystery fan.
holy cow… the band fucking smoked it. the show was filled with hilarity, incredible dynamics, and everyone up there had a unique story to tell on each tune. jay bellerose and dennis crouch were the sickest rhythm section in los angeles tonight…
so glad i went because i rarely go see live music. if only there were gigs like that going on more often; got me thinking about trying to put a night together with Val and some other cronies on the westside of town (venice, santa monica, etc.), could be great…
blakeParticipantTom, If I can muster the courage post-shred, I will totally look for a way to thank em in person. A buddy of mine is on their list, Danielle and I will try to get back there with him.

I found this on your website…your cover of “Just Wanted To See You So Bad.” 8)
yeeeea now i figure it’s just a matter of time before Lu sees that !!!
blakeParticipantyes it is available on CD through my website, http://www.blakemillsmusic.com
blakeParticipantAha! That makes plenty of sense too.
blakeParticipantthanks for the welcome tom, everybody. like i said, i’m as much a fan as anyone here – and i love it when someone shares with me an experience they’ve had with one of my many heros. i was on a record once with keltner and his stories were about “leo”, “phil”, “john” (cohen, specter, lennon). that was a deeply mind blowing day for me… just remember thinking “this guy ‘was there'”!!
perhaps for some, it’ll be that much fun to hear of my experiences out with lu & cru.blakeParticipantThanks!
Tonyg, I’ll prolly be up to something here or there. Nothing on the books as of now.blakeParticipantWest Words
“Please practice extra on Seeing Black, Copenhagan, and Blessed. I think a lot of fans will be yelling out for those.”

blakeParticipantthanks tom. ATL is my first night!
