Aside from the overall high quality show and the awesome individual preformances, the venue had great acoustics up front. A lot of credit goes out to the crew that seamlessy changed gear without the usual background hiss or feedback. Having seen LU at the Beacon and Town Hall shows, the quality of the sound system worked real great. I’ve seen plenty of shows at WaMu and the crew deserves a MAJOR shout out.
As LU noticed, the 5,600 capacity theater was a much larger spot than what she is used to in NYC. But none of the warmth or intimacy of some of her most introspective songs were lost. Her self affacing personality as well as her depth came through on a lot of the songs; especially some of the new and deeeply personal songs from Honey Bee. “Steal your Love” is such a deep expression of unrequieted love and the way she performed it was so very intimate.
Nice to see some of the songs that she worked on live over the the last year made the final cut on the album (Jailhouse Rock, Honey Bee). The have only gotten better.
And of course Bucik 6….what a band!!!! picking the right guitars to perfectly compliment the vibe that is being conveyed with each song; Rickenbacker, Gretsch and the usual assortment of Gibson and Fenders…they ROCKED when needed too….putting it into overdrive…but they also can dial it down and get into that deep groove sound that you just know is exclusively “Lucinda Williams”….CAN’T WAIT till the Buick 6 album is released…
See you on the road
