bigsubiParticipantTom Overby explain here about Eric Shermerhorn.
I remember Eric at the backstage in Zaragoza trying to teach me his last name. 😀 😀 😀

Thanks for setlist…amazing show again, but I too thought Eric wasn’t Doug…he was better!! Had moments of moaning feedback reminding me of Richard Thompson’s Stratwork.
Who is Eric anyway? Anyone got any info, I missed his surname when introductions happened.
Keeping me hanging on until the bitter end for Overtime was cruel, but I had tears is my eyes as I left the hall. Inspired.
Just one downside, the drunken, attention-seeking clown sat in the row in front! Why does he think I’ve paid 25 quid to LW? To listen to his inebriated rantings to his Mrs? I think not…. if you’re on here you need to grow up my friend, I think you were outvoted 🙂
bigsubiParticipantNice set list Stoger…specially the encore with Passionate Kisses!!!
Nothing like the “passionate” fans from Spain, that’s true. 😉

20 It’s a Long WayPaul, please fill in the gaps. I think she said something of note between Blue and Pineola but can’t recall it. Near end of Buick 6’s set, Butch said “scream, dance, shout–adulation: it will make your lives better, and our lives better on stage.” Well, we did, and it seemed to. Maybe the best show of the Spain and beyond leg, certainly the best in UK so far. Strange house policy of herding people upstairs for an indoor line of about 45 minutes, after people stood outside until 19:00. Double queue, as it were. Maybe soundcheck ran late. At any rate, an appreciative crowd, a happy Lu. Standing, no seats. Paul?
bigsubiParticipantA pleasure to have you on board!!!

19 Its a Long WayFoolishly took bus rather than train and was subject to near strip search by non-EU Swiss border patrols, thus missed probably three songs, a phenonemon worse than blue balls in my opinion. Very formal indoor setting with no drinking, no entry except between songs, etc. Finally, one dancing fan got people up on feet at very end. Workmanlike, professional evening. Paris will be different, I feel.

bigsubiParticipantAfter the good byes we went to the car and I had a thought and tell to Mercedes to go back to the venue again. 😉
We find the truck driver and ask for Eric. After ten minutes Eric came and carry us to the backstage to say thanks and goodbye to Lucinda and Tom. 😀
At the entrance we find David Sutton and finally we give him my t-shirt from The Cramps too. Maybe some gig he will put on. 😮
By the way, Lucinda plays “something about what happens when we talk” after she asked in Zaragoza to us if we wish some song to play in Barcelona. Wonderful!!! 🙄Specially thanks to Eric F. Big hug Tom O. and kisses Lu!!!
bigsubiParticipantLucinda tell us for two times the name from the song but I can only remember that the songwriter or only the writer is from Santiago de Chile. 😳
I’m very sorry but the emotional moment from yesterday night have paralyzed my brain. 😛 Something like “viento calido”Tonight t-shirt in Madrid: Neil Young Tour 2009!!!

20 [I DEFER TO BIGSUBI TO POST THE SPANISH TITLE OF THIS LU CLASSIC: OH MY GOD!)Bigsubi, so glad you got access. I looked for that Cramps t-shirt you were wearing, even asked Susannah at merch booth about same, but to no avail. I had a backstage pass in my own pocket but was just too tired to stay. Look for me in Madrid, may be wearing Twangfest tshirt with Dylan and James Brown on front…
What a beautiful venue, the Teatro Principal. As Lu put it at one point (perhaps segueing in and out of genres and nationalities a bit much, but enticingly), it was “an opera house before Shakespeare.” Me, I was just glad to be seated and not leaning up against a bit of local flora piercing my spine, a la Cartagena. Two different crowds, but that´s one of the joys of Lu fandom.
Buick 6 was introduced bilingually, Nick (who was dressed much like the majority of the patrons) handling the English and the promotor maybe (same guy as in Bilbao) translating. Butch introduced half the band near end, thanking the locals for the NBA player contributed to the Lakers and pointing out how big of a fan he and David are. Guess the Knicks and Trailblazers have no native Aragonians on the squad. . .
So Bigsubi, tell us the last double encore song. A hint will be this, in my bumbling Spanish: Lucinda, tu eres el sol que illuminata mi verrano (I know that´s way off, but yo hablo espanol solamente un poco).
bigsubiParticipantBlue is a wonderful song!!!
I pray for “something about what’s happen when we talk” Difficult, I know, but not impossible.PS: Stoger, The Cramps t-shirt it’s me 😉

19 Angel [for Isaac Hayes & Micheal Jackson]Ah, the customs of Spain: Lu´s walk-on was 11:57 local time, which rivals New Orleans House of Blues last Feb. during mardi Gras as latest start. Buick 6 cranked up about 11:10, pretty understated reception until the next to last number with two percussionists, which picked things up.
Have I mentioned the tour bus is pink?
Lu spoke more Spanish to the fans here than in Bilbao, even bridged into the band intros with some.
All in all, I´d say that Lu, the Mediterreanean becomes you.

Nice to read your experience last night in Bilbao. Great and long set list! Yeah! Wonderful! 😀
Tomorrow Cartagena and then I started my particularly Lucinda Spanish Tour over Zaragoza, Madrid and Barcelona.
I hope to live same sensations like you this weekend!
And also it will be great to know the humble Tennessee boy, Mr.Stoger and his friends! 😉Sleep well!

Hiya,
It’s so late that I’m afraid of looking at my clock … 4:23 am. Not bad.
Tonite my experience at my second Lucinda Williams has been so smashing, so great that it is hard to believe it. If the concert in the two years ago concert in London was a fantastic experience, this second one is exceptional.By the time Lucinda Williams spoke in Spanish, she had the public in her pocket. Literally speaking. I also think that the audience from Bilbao had Lucinda Williams in their pocket from the very beginning. The expectation was so high. The willing of seeing a good concert was so evident that once Lucinda noticed it and smiled, the magic linked and never faded in the whole concert.
A concert that lasted over two hours and was very, very intense.
Here is the list of the songs that have been heard tonite:
I Just Wanted To See Ya So Bad
Can’t Let Go
Well Well Well
I Lost It

Angel by Jimmy HendrixLucinda was wearing a T-shirt with a big heart, a stylish short jacket, blue jeans and sport shoes like all star converse with two colour stripes on each side of the white rubber.
As you may see. Very complete.
All I can say is Thank You to all the wonderful people I have met tonite. Thank You to Stoger, Thank You to Stoger’s friend, to Eric and to Tom whose help has been brilliant.
