The show was pretty awesome. People packed in like sardines. Good music and good clean fun closed out this great idea of a tour. I met Neil Young’s oldest son, who was pleasant and courteous. After the show various people repaired to the Velvet Margarita across the street for refreshments. Those in attendance saw me miss a step down from the bar to the lounge, 4 drinks in hand, and go sailing through the air like Underdog and crash land, unable to break my fall with my hands, on the floor with an enormous thud. Glass, booze and ice emanated from me like a supernova. I cut my hand, my head, and severely bruised my knees. I have ice bags on them now. West Words, SeaSamishMike, and my friend Matt will be talking about this for some time. My friend Matt’s face went completely white. It was a fitting finale to a great 2 plus weeks.

…we met Neil Young’s oldest son too in Pomona…He was talking with Stuart Mathis and us about so many stories as the recording of “Le Noise” and his father’s autobiography…at the end before he left the backstage we took a picture but I forget to ask him about email adress or something like that and now I’m searchig for him to send it but I think it will be a hard challenge…some help will be much appreciated… 😉

Breaking news (or not): a brown beast has escaped from Nashville and the last known of him is that he has been seen in Pomona’s neighborhood. Answers to the name of Stuart Mathis. You can go closer to him, don’ bite, he only plays the guitar in a brutal fashion.

Spectacular concert hall The Glass House, the sound was simply perfect and crystal. Something I already warned by Alabama’s gypsy Kenneth Brian a while before to get in. We get plenty of space in front the stage and it was perfect for have some dance steps meanwhile the southern opening band was playing. This time included a song with fiddle.
Third show on the raw and intensity goes in crescendo. I don’t want to imagine how they will be the next ones. Ok ! Yes I will but I don’t be there ! 😥
I’m pleasantly surprised by the Lucinda/Stuart connection. There is a promising future and hopefully at least they record a live album. It’s difficult for me to explain with exactly words what this duo are giving on stage. A range of sensitivity and power in two simply words. Every song that the guitar has that key role (and there are not a few),
Stuart bring to the exciting limits. Sutton/Norton follow him intensively.
Separate mention is our artist voice. Quite powerful and evocative.

PS: highlight ! We had the honor to have oldest Neil Young son at the audience and we had the oportunity to have a small talk with him at the backstage after the show. I supose it will be the nearest contact with the Canadian bear that I can have ! But you never know…world turns around !

PS2: We’re a taking a flying metal firecracker in two days back to Barcelona. Next breaking news about this tour up to you local fellas !

    G’morning you all !
“Burning Bridges” (potencial single from the next new double album), “Every thing but the truth” is the other new brand song we can heard yesterday night at the legendary Troubador and “Foolishness” the last one.
As legendary and brilliant was the concert and the sound pushed by two guitar axes like the local fella Greg Leisz and, like Lucinda says Stuart Mathis, courtesy of The Wallflowers.
Nice work for the openning band, Kenneth Brian with this particullary southern taste.
Pleased to be again in the USA and met old/good/forum/fans like PaulfromLosÁngeles and new ones like Grumpmama and TonyG.
Well, we went out from the venue at 3:00am and wake up four hours later to have breakfast and maybe to disappear into Amoeba’s store or drive to Mullholand Drive. We’re open to suggestions !
PS: “Keep on rockin’ in a free world” !

Since the thread lafayette started re: this event was apparently a deleted one, I’ll reset.

At the former taping site of Austin City Limits on the UT campus, Lu was interviewed formally for about 20 minutes, then lobbed a few questions by the audience for another 10-15. She seemed relaxed, and the audience was politely sedate, almost but not quite filling the seats.

Some highlights: Lu revealed that she once was hired to perform at a Houston Steak and Ale franchise, playing solo and without a microphone.

Lu once opened for Ted Nugent, who, when asked his opinion of her set, allegedly replied, “She’s just another p _ _ _ y on a guitar.”

Three covers have been cut, though I’m not sure if these will be part of the next (2014) release. They are Lou Reed’s “Pale Blue Eyes”; Bruce Springsteen’s “Factory”; J.J. Cale’s “Magnolia.”

When pressed, Lu said yes, the record will come out in March or April and will be a double one. Greater wisdom might be summer 2014, but it’s a comin. Thirty-four tracks are in the bag, says Lu–though “Port Arthur” is not one of them in terms of last fall’s studio recordings. She implied she wanted to cut it again, with harmony part.

She was asked about “Greenville” but revealed little new, other than the figure was a–yes folks–male musician.

Tony Joe White, Greg Leisz, Bill Frissell, and Ian McLagan are on the new tracks, but not all on the same ones; they were in studio at different times. Apparently, Butch and David are on some but not all of the 34 tracks. Another rhythm section was used for part.

Lu said there was a “country-soul” thread on the material set for the double 2014 release. She implied that the remainder of the songs were more in the nature of ballads, and that the 3 covers fell more in that camp.

Lu admitted to a “fear of being overproduced” for a number of years.

She said the self-titled rerelease record exuded a “warmth” then and now, more so than other of hers maybe.

Thanks to TO and lafayette for info and access about/to this great (if short) event.

Stoger, fine very timely reporting from Brussels and Zurich. Many thanks.

Now you have the pleasure of touring thru the Pyrennees to meet up with bigsubi and Mercedes.I thought I would post a flashback to Barcelona July 2009 to show the fantastic reception Lu got from her fans.

Here we have “Little Rock Star” from Barcelona first time on published Setlist FM in Brussels a few days ago but not since 2011.
And, we have “Adios Corazon Amante”

For the setlist : To me it was 12. Bleeding 13 Lock 14. Out of Touch !!! and so on…….

    Strange concert :

I havent seen Lucinda Williams in a few years and was shocked ,how bad she looked.

…do me a favor !!!…why you don’t post a pic from yourself ???…maybe you’re a 18 young handsome fella and we fell in love with you…

As for the concert, neither good nor real bad, her voice was partly gone after 30 min or so….

…any bad Lucinda’s day on stage must be better than you singing in the shower !!!…

Routine all over, but I had hoped , the three musicians would interact better.

To me it was a shame ,how she talked to her guitar tech, real bad behavior and odd looks in the audience.

About two years ago I have seen Cowboy Junkies in this venue, a lot ,lot better.

    …congrats !!!…

Well, I think, she has problems, and it could have been worse, anyhow, not sure yet, if I want to see her again.

…don’t worry, she won’t miss you for sure !!!… 😆
