OK, so this page is about sharing emerging ideas and exciting songwriters that are friends of or could be friends of LWs. So, it has been known that I have brought many such artists to the forum that would otherwise not have made it to these pages, right (see my past posts for the exact 411 as they speak for themselves)? I think that a kaleidoscope is beyond necessary when approaching such vast topics such as “singers and songwriters” versus the sometimes mono-vision-type approach that has been known to happen in this topic of the forum as well as all others. This is especially true regarding the last few legs of the tour when LWs was out with the two different incarnations of Buick 6. So many possibilities yet Buick 6 was the opener and house band. Honestly speaking, go figure. Anyway, a few of us here have chewed on that tired (now marrow-less) bone before while it remains curious how defensive individuals get in regards to such issues as well as others. Some keep reaching, keep learning, and keep listening. For me, that is a good thing. Here is another outstanding example of how one–notice not the one goes about the business of learning and teaching. A very interesting historical read along w/photos (one of the original CBGB stage), for sure regardless of your stance and or biases. So many artists so little time! http://journal.davidbyrne.com/

Have to agree with you, David on the Buick 6 thing. It’s being beaten to death and the audiences are getting smaller on every tour. I won’t go see another show if they’re the opener.

David, I for one can’t discount this guy. Since I’ve joined Lu’s Forum I have learned so much about other musicians and also emptied my wallet on CD’s , live concerts etc.
Currently, one of my Top 5 ( Lucinda still dominates the pack ) is Arcade Fire.
I was surprised at David Byrne’s connection with them. And being a Canadian, I again was surprised David B. lived in Canada for a while before Baltimore. The Arcade Fire Band is more like a mini orchestra with violins, etc. , again like some of David B’s concerts.
See this article from “Daily Refill “complete with a video and photos from Irving Plaza NYC Feb./05
Later in the year Arcade Fire opened for David B. at the Hollywood Bowl.

Also David Byrne’s connection links to another active poster on this Forum-i.e. Lafayette who lists John Mellencamp as her # 1 in the Top 5.

Here we see David Byrne many years ago interviewing John M. on Sessions.

So isn’t it relevant how things on this Forum fit nicely together?
