Lu bravely fought the elements last night(heat, humidity and flying insects) to give us a rocking and rolling ninety minutes of great songs. Got to hear many faves esp. Pineola, Changed the Locks and Essence! Plus, she played many songs from the new album – Copenhagen was sublime, and Blessed, as part of the encore, was a fitting end to the best of her local appearances over the last ten years. It was a hot, steamy night and, from the 2nd row, we all wondered why she didn’t have those stage fans on her from the start. And Lu, next time take off that long sleeve shirt; you won’t be so uncomfortable!
And I forgot to add how much we enjoyed Blake’s guitar work. Whether rocking out with power chords or strumming and picking with subtlety, he was a joy to watch and listen to. I don’t believe you will be hearing any calls of “where’s Doug” anymore. Bravo to Blake.
