KeymasterFrom Tom:
It can be hard to write these without sounding like they are coming from the Dept. Of Redundancy Dept. -it feels like it’s always great crowd, great show etc-saying the same thing every night. We got more messages after this show than any other on this run-and that’s saying something- so i’m going to share a couple of the those:(1)”I will now call Lucinda Williams “LUCINDA 2.0″ I have seen/heard her several times in the past 10 years. Last night, in Winston-Salem, I took in a very inspiring, current version of Lu and her wonderful band. I sat between a seasoned W-S based fan and a newbey. We were all amazed. Grace, gratitude, love and classic talent came from that stage. The band was so gracious after the show.LOVED IT.”
(2) Lucinda was incredible last night at the Millennium Center! I knew very little of Lucinda’s music and song writing prior to the show. So struck by her song Foolishness that I googled the lyrics as soon as I got home. An instant Lucinda Williams fan was born last night in Winston-Salem, North Carolina!
I share these not only out of great appreciation-for all the responses, but also because these speak quite a bit about the things we want to accomplish as were out here on the road banging away. Lucinda is an artist who has continued to grow and master every part of what she does. To call her Lucinda 2.0 is a real compliment that her growth is being noticed after all these years. The writer from Bloomington had very similar comments about that saying he couldn’t believe how far she continues to come. That kind of ting means everything to her because she feels she is singing better than she ever has, her and the band have been together long enough now where they are a “band” -not just backing musicians behind a singer. Ok, probably rambled on here -but we’ll just say right now and the band have a confidence and a swagger that only comes from doing the work and wanting to better every single night. They feel they are as good as ANYBODY right now. And they make this case every night.
OK back to the topic at hand, The thing that has marked this run is all the surprises we’ve had either from places that we didn’t expect it ,or we didn’t know what to expect. Right from the beginning, Salt Lake was on, KC another, Columbus was a big one and right there equal to any of the others was Winston-Salem. We have never been there before and what a fantastic crowd -there, I had to say it because it was true. What a great night -it didn’t even matter that it had to be indoors. Of course we will be back. Thank you Winston Salem for another incredible night.

ParticipantWow Tom, you got so excited you forgot the setlist. But I’ll take a “rain check” (weak pun, in light of NC weather) on that. Great visuals. And I bet that fan who googled the “FOOLISHNESS” lyrics was pleased–even without words like “racism” and “sexism” and “agism” officially in them.

Keymaster😯 You don’t see the setlist, good Sir?

ParticipantDespite not having achieved “good sir” status, I will also confirm no set list visible for me..

ParticipantYou’re welcome, Tony.
As an aside, I have used Tinypics for posting pics here and elsewhere, but with this new improved site, I found that just right-clicking on pic and choosing “copy image address” then clicking on the new “insert image” tab (second from right in toolbar) then pasting image address seems to work fine.. so far- Mike

KeymasterAwesome! You mean right click within Tinypics?
August 15, 2017 at 5:44 pm #74147Mike_Doran
ParticipantThere would work also I assume.. I meant right click on pic where it’s found (e.g.- Lu’s FB page)

KeymasterMike, I can’t seem to find the insert image thingy of which you speak . Which toolbar visual or text? I guess I’m dumm.
As an humorous anecdote type thing, my office internet firewall blocks the following sites:
Lucindawilliams.com
Flickr
tinypics
🙁
P.S. Disregard Mike. I found the icon. I’ll try it with a Flikr pic next time.

ParticipantBut no blockage to stoger’s email address, right TonY?
August 16, 2017 at 8:48 pm #74163tonyg
KeymasterDepends on what you mean by blockage Mr. S.
How did you like my sentence structure “As an humorous anecdote” above?
August 18, 2017 at 1:26 pm #74199stoger
ParticipantA grammatical outrage to use the article “an” in front of a consonant sound, Tony; I’m offended and outraged!
