in 2003 i was alone for the first time in my life, having raised two succesful children, i left my husband and a four floor old victorian home and moved into a second floor apatment above the contracting business i was working for. for months i painted and worked on four apartments………and i had just been given “world without tears as a gift. constantly working and my hands always wet with paint or grout….i just kept hitting repeat with my elbow. for months. wow. those three days – i had a personal connection there – world without tears – words fell – bleeding fingers……….
immediately got on ebay and purchased all things lucinda – all her recordings and dvds of late nite with letterman, crossroads with costello, all things lucinda…………………………
blue……………………..raven – shiney and black – a touch of blue – glistening down her back…………
drunken angel – not much time between changing my life and working days at my job and nites working on the apartments, but i did get my guitar our for this one…………..
    unsuffer me……………………..essence…………………..i envy the wind………loney girls…………..butterflies…………side of the road…………

i saw her front and center at promo west pavillion in columbus in 2003……………..righteously.

she rocks but it’s her words that touch me

Like your post nvy, all those songs you mentioned have got superb lyrics, and touch me in a way that no one else can, unfortunately most people do not take the time to discover the lyrics nowadays. coupled with that wonderful voice that does all sorts of things to me 😳 😳 , it is an unbeatable combination.

And don`t you just think that there is always something very sexy about a lady with a guitar…

    and a cowboy hat…
but seriously, the words to her songs really strike home, I swear she’s singing about my life. It’s really amazing and inspiring.

I have loved music all my life. Last night I went to Amazon downloads and listened to some of Lucinda’s music. To say the least, I was blown away. I bought all of her downloads which I think was 8. I stayed up all night with mp3 player and listened to her. I am totally mesmerized by her. She is awesome and I absolutely love her. I am surprised I never discovered her before. I look forward to meeting you and discussing this great singer and song writer. Let’s rock!!!!!!!!

I have been listening to Lu for several days and I am blown away by her music. Where has she been all my life or rather where have I been all her life. I love this lady and her music is awesome. It is always good to add another great artist to your list of favorites. I really hope she tours the Western states this year because I would love to see her. I hear she is really good to her fans and is a generally nice person. Besides I am in her age group; younger though; and it is so good to have someone sing about the things I can relate to. Her choice of words and imagery and thought provoking and emotionally striking. To sum it up, I have had a year of poor health that continues with chronic pain, and her music is sweet relief to me.

Thank you so much for your words and the link to the pain management site. I looked at it and really like it. I just left nursing after 15 years, and I totally believe in alternative methods for pain relief and other ailments as well. I do find so much relief in music and my mp3 player is stacked with all my favorite artists. I just put on my headphones and listen away. I hope to meet many of you on this board through our discussions about Lu and other positive topics. I am a fan of another huge female rock star and have quit going to the message board I belong to. It has turned real negative with a lot of backbiting and inapropriate topics. I know she wouldn’t like it knowing her fans are acting so negatively. Music is meant to uplift and bring us together. 😆

I tuned into an internet radio station, just for a change. Nice to hear some different stuff, you know, stuff you wouldn’t choose yourself. Well this song came on, and I’m stunned by the voice. The lyrics are more of a journal than any sort of entertainment, but it is so compelling that I have to find out who/what /where. The song was called Pineola, from the Filmore set, and forty odd years of being a music fanatic couldn’t prepare me for that voice.

We don’t get much Lucinda in Melbourne, Australia. So I downloaded a live concert and soaked it up. Have to say that Fruits of my labour is my favorite, but I’m betting that there’s plenty more.

What a voice, and what a joy to hear it !

    Hey gronk,

Welcome on board. I am so glad you have discovered Lucinda, and you are quite correct, I have said often before that she does not get anything like the air play she deserves, and I make it my personnel goal to introduce one person to Lucinda each week.
You are so lucky with all that back catalogue catching up to look forward to, and there is no doubt that you will not be disappointed.

    Welcome again, and happy listening.

    Love,Peace and Revolution.

Thanks dr winston for the warm welcome.

I bought a copy of West, and I will work through the catalogue slowly so as not to miss anything.

I have also started working on my friends, and if they know what’s good for them, they’ll get on board! 8)

Best of all, now I’ve found this place I can read everything and get up to speed on Lucinda’s career.

Love,Peace and Revolution to you too (though not necessarily in that order!).

I was in a record store and they played two songs from Car Wheels…. I went right out and bought a ticket to her concert. She has played here twice since then and I saw her both times of course. I was the giant scary biker up front-extremely long hair and sunglasses-with tears streaming down my face.

I had never heard any of LW’s music and bought Car wheels by pure chance on a whim, needless to say I have now all her catalogue, other than those “live recordings” I read about here in the forum, BTW Can I get them in Scotland?

Not sure you’ll find them in Scotland – you can still buy them on-line – click on the link on the welcome page to this site (right hand side/middle). Great value, given the current exchange rate! Although they’re priceless really. Lol.
