On this cloudy, rainy, and unseasonably cool day, I decided to pull it out and crank it up to 11… I must say, WEST is a better all around LP than I remember. That is all.
May 16, 2011 at 6:35 pm #47231tonygKeymasterOne of my favorites, Fuji.
May 16, 2011 at 7:32 pm #47232parkercaParticipantOn of my favorites also. There are some really good songs on that album.
May 16, 2011 at 9:02 pm #47233AnonymousInactiveWest is actually my least favorite album of Lucinda. (Well at least from the ones I listened to, which are her self-titled album and everything onward).
It never quite caught on with me, but I’m hoping to play it more in the future.

May 16, 2011 at 9:12 pm #47235punchdrunkloveParticipanti have yet to wrap my head aroud wrap my head around that (how many people made this dumb, cutesy comment?), but i adore every other song.
i even like the idea of birds having bank accounts, which a friend alerted me as the most weird (a sweet translation to english from a way harsher word in portuguese) lyrics he had ever heard.
May 16, 2011 at 9:21 pm #47236tonygKeymasterWrap My Head Around That is a great song. I know its weird.
As far as the birds having bank accounts, I doubt they are earning much interest.
May 16, 2011 at 9:25 pm #47237punchdrunkloveParticipantyes, some mighty turbulent times for birds, when hurtful ex-lovers invade their nests and rest their heads on leaves of gold.
(it’s fun going through lucinda’s lyrics.)

Songs like “Are You Alright?”, “Fancy Funeral” and “Mama You Sweet” really got me good. and still do.
May 17, 2011 at 6:28 am #47239LafayetteParticipantSame here, Parker. This record got me thru my Mom’s passing as well. I’m glad to see songs other than “Come On” and “Unsuffer Me” making the set lists as of late.
PDL…I LOVE “Wrap My Head Around That.” My husband is not much of a Lu fan but he gets a big kick out of that song, especially the “party favor” line. 😆

I couldn’t open this file. Anyone else try to download?
May 17, 2011 at 6:40 am #47241punchdrunkloveParticipantit’s a .flac file. maybe you gotta install a new codec pack in order to open it (i use bsplayer, it’s wonderful). or you could download a converter to get a mp3 version (lame!) out of the great lossless version (yeah).
take a look at this << http://flac.sourceforge.net/download.html

it’s not that i don’t like WRAP. i don’t know, it’s just lesser (& kinda silly). goes forever without any momentum or surprise. doesn’t have any bite, and those OOOOH *agressive* LW songs are everything but biteless.
trivia time: AMERICAN DREAM & ATONEMENT are the only LW songs i dislike. i’m a philistine!

thanks for posting that file. I downloaded last night. Really good!May 17, 2011 at 3:07 pm #47244TimParticipantI like West, but would have enjoyed it more if the original recordings were released. She recorded 24 songs in LA in Spring 2005 with Doug Pettibone, Taras Prodaniuk and Jimmie Christie and debuted alot of the songs in Summer 2005.This is when I first heard them. Eventually alot of the music was wiped out and re-recorded later. I’ve only heard four “demo” songs that were released as a bonus when West came out; but I liked all four of them more than the officially released versions.
