Man, this is AWESOME news, Tom!!! We weren’t going to be able to make this particular show, but I am SO HAPPY for those that were planning on making it. Apparently, making a stand can indeed make a difference!! Congratulations, Lu & Tom, and, even though we can’t be there, I sincerely hope this is the very best show of the “mini-tour”!!!
You guys ROCK!!!
Tom

This show WILL now be happening and the info that I have now is that the ticket fees will be reduced, my understanding is that they will now be $7.55 on the $39.50 tickets and $9.75 on the $54.50 tickets -also there will now be a will call option free of charge.
Not quite Tom–but it’s getting there. I did a “dummy” (thanks for the wording, Paul) purchase moments ago, and truly the standard mail/will call costs are now zero, for either. The $4.40 “order processing fee” is still there on both types of tickets, and the total facilities/convenience fees are $13.05 and $13.75 respectively. Thus, a GA ticket total is now $56.95, a VIP one $72.65. That’s about ten bucks above what you tally above–but let me for one say that it’s astounding that Ticketmaster/bastard actually did respond and eliminate one set of fees here. I never expected that. So I truly hope the new thread line “VENTURA IS ON” remains valid!
Did we decide “VIP” in this case means guaranteed seating just behind a small dance area? Paul or others, just what would one be purchasing here?
Perhaps folks should “hold off” a bit longer??????????
July 13, 2010 at 7:31 pm #43845tonygKeymasterThe last 2 LW shows I attended at the Ventura Theater had everone sitting in plastic chairs between the bar and the pit area. What they called the VIP area was in the pit area, which was roped off from the upper area there were a few rows of seats, and in front of the seats were some tables where people were eating dinner. There was no dancing area that I can remember. Although I did see Paul rocking out a bit.
July 13, 2010 at 7:35 pm #43846paul_from_losangelesParticipantStoger, thanks for your report. Seems like I’m still ahead at $68.10 for a VIP ticket from a Ticketmaster retail outlet (Second Spin in Santa Monica).
Regarding your VIP question, I honestly don’t remember what VIP obtains, except it probably permits me closer access to the stage, either standing or maybe sitting. At this point, I’m a bit apprehensive about the loudness from Chrissie & friends, so I’ll probably experience Chrissie’s set from the rear, and then use my VIP wristband to see Lucinda from closer down front.
July 13, 2010 at 8:10 pm #43847West WordsParticipantHey Paul – Chrissie is not the Pretenders this time, so don’t be afraid. 🙂 Check this out -http://www.1019rxp.com/News/Story.aspx?ID=1235972, or if that doesn’t work http://www.jpchrissie.com/home.php . Not loud, Americana-ish. On one of the songs, JP reminds me of Leonard Cohen.
(P.S. I have delicate ears and almost never had to use earplugs at a Pretenders’ show, unless there were sound issues that could happen anywhere.)
July 13, 2010 at 9:18 pm #43848TOverbyParticipantStoger -Maybe you did try a little early before they made all of the adjustments. You might wan to try it again. Here is the email I got moments ago from Lucinda’s booking agent, L is the promoter of the Ventura Theatre:
Tom.
From the venue itself.

Paul, see you in The Pit (VIP ticket by any other name). Tom, the prices were exactly as you say above; the facility fee disappeared completely eventually, a couple of days after the mailing fees, and the convenience fee got reduced. Others, we’ll see about a drink beforehand.
Think I’ll get a little something sweet down off the shelf and ponder my rewarded patience. . .

I will find out the details on getting refunded the difference asap. This all just happened within the last hour.
Any info on how to obtain a refund from TM?
$74.90 – $64.25 = $10.65… a 14% reduction and every little bit helps!
Thx for you efforts!August 5, 2010 at 7:50 pm #43851TOverbyParticipantBob–Have you called TM –I believe they are supposed to honor the reduction. Let me know if that is not the case.

TM has no info on refunds for this show and referred me to the Ventura Theater. My credit card bill shows a TM refund of $4.00 so, the difference between what I paid and the revised cost is only $6.65. No big deal, especially in light of how cool the show was, so I won’t be pursuing this any further.
Just looking forward to Sac and Napa! 😀Thanks again for fighting the good fight. All your efforts are much appreciated!
Best,
Bob -
