Over half of Car Wheels tonight, punch drunk, by straightforward non-bizarre math. Tickle your fancy?

This was my dream venue: GA seated, but a generous standing area in front of row one which it was accepted would be filled to the brim by show time. I strolled by the sidewalk half hour before doors–quite crowded, including a Californian in a tweed jacket in middle of pack. By the time I walked to my hotel and back, it was an easy entrance, with only a couple of dozen folks standing 15 minutes before ticket time. Second “row,” no sweat.

I must say the Jazz Fest host was a bit unimpressive in his intro, rendering the title of the new album in two syllables, then calling Lu “the queen of heartland soul” (???).

The crowd was good, though one rail stander propped up a copy of Lu’s ACL DVD on stage against a drink bottle, then started taking repeated flash photos of it. Security put this to rights midway through the first number, thankfully.

Again, Lu praised this nation on her walk-off. Fine show.

I don’t know how to rate Vancouver overall, punch drunk, maybe not my third favorite in world cities, but beautiful. Wish I had more time to explore it.

Hi, being new to this group I’m unsure of the protocol regarding audio recordings of live performances. I know many artists actively encourage live set exchanges but I’ve only just discovered this fan forum. At last night’s performance at the Vogue in Vancouver I observed the no flash photography admonition but nothing was mentioned about audio. We were halfway into Drunken Angel when I thought to turn on my iPod & do a memo record. Our seats were the very back row under a very extended balcony right next to the sound board. I left it on for the rest of the show and when we got back to the ranch listened to it through and while not hifi it still gives a good representation of a great live performance. Tom, let me know if this is appropriate and if it is I’m willing to share the raw file that I have.

    i still have no clue.

but let me just tell you that some CRAZY people around here are involved in a insane project – a compilation of 75 versions of the same song (2 kool 2 be 4-gotten) on 5 cds, including a über-rare demo recording found in the outskirts of ice-cold sweden.

you can’t beat that, at least.
