Tom, I suppose you will be deciding on Covington before Friday?

Unless Tom posts up the info about the Chicago shows before then, I’ll have to go ahead & buy two tickets regardless and, if Chicago turns out not to be right before Covington, I’ll have to sell them here or on eBay. On the other hand, if the Chicago shows do not happen at all, we’ll still have our Covington tickets & will just go to that show instead.

I’m just too paranoid to wait after they go on sale to see when (or even if) the Chicago shows are scheduled – I’m afraid it’ll sell out, I’ll end up wanting to go, & I won’t have tickets (especially since the venue is so small).

Stevarino, sounds like you have a much better feel for dining in that area than I do. However, with this being a GA show, depending on time you would want to meet, I prefer to line up somewhat early.

However, if a preshow is in order, Dee Felice would be cool with it’s Cajun and Creole cuisine.

All your pre-show suggestions are void of karaoke equipment, so that works. 😉

The general consensus may have us going to a post show. I’ll do whatever.

Well Lafayette & stevarino, looks like Covington is now definitely out for us, I am sorry to say. During my current state of unemployment, I have returned to school & our Spring quarter just started yesterday. Turns out the final exam for one of my classes is June 11th at 1:00 PM, and there is no way, short of medical emergency, to change that schedule… 😥

Now I am really hoping that the Chicago shows, if they do happen, are after Bonnaroo…

    ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗ ❗

Sure enough, Tim – High Road Touring must have just added that show since I last checked yesterday or the day before. Thanks!!!

Woo hoo!!! This suggests to me that the ever-elusive & mythological Chicago shows, if they do happen, will follow Bonnaroo – and follow this new Louisville show as well. And that means, a new possible trip for me – Atlanta –> Louisville –> Chicago w/ 3 shows!

Thanks, Tim! After yesterday’s disappointing news (see my post above), you have made me a happy man once again!

Lucinda is killing me. Under normal circumstances, I would be heading to that Louisville show as it’s about a two hour drive. HOWEVER, I have plans to head to Chicago June 12 – 14 for the Bluesfest! Sooooo, if those Chicago shows are added on the other side of the Bluesfest weekend, my brother would just have to understand a few more days camped out at his place!

High Road Touring has just added a new show: Monday, June 15th, The Blue Note, Columbia, MO. (Beatcha, Tim!! 😉 )

    Hmmm. Chicago next?

With the addition of the MO show on June 15, I think Chicago, if it happens, will be squeezed in between WI and KY.

Can’t wait to see what’s added next.

Maybe – maybe not. Louisville –> Columbia is about a 6 hour drive, and Columbia –> Chicago is about 6 1/2 hours. Very doable, and not out of the way. Plus, if the Chicago shows are indeed “special” shows, it might make sense that they are at the end of the tour.

I know I’m speculating like crazy, but my fantasy road trip now is Louisville –> Columbia –> Chicago for a total of 4 shows. What a great way to celebrate (one month late) my 50th birthday!!!

And here’s a picture of the Blue Note in Columbia I got from their Web site. Looks perfect – small club, with standing right up front…

❗ Update: If the 2 Chicago shows are going to occur, it’s definitely going to be after Bonnaroo, and therefore after the Columbia, MO show on June 15th. High Road Touring just “plugged” the 2-day hole between Oneida, WI on the 7th & Covington, KY on the 10th by adding a new show in Indianapolis, IN at The Vogue on Tuesday June 9th…

So, here’s the tour as it stands now, according to High Road:

Thu May 28 ’09 Anaheim, CA House of Blues Anaheim
Fri May 29 ’09 Tucson, AZ Rialto Theatre
Sat May 30 ’09 Mesa, AZ Mesa Arts Center
Mon Jun 1 ’09 Santa Fe, NM Paolo Soleri Amphitheatre
Wed Jun 3 ’09 Denver, CO Denver Botanic Gardens
Thu Jun 4 ’09 Boulder, CO Chatauqua Auditorium
Sat Jun 6 ’09 Council Bluffs, IA Whiskey Roadhouse
Sun Jun 7 ’09 Oneida, WI Oneida Bingo & Casino
Tue Jun 9 ’09 Indianapolis, IN The Vogue
Wed Jun 10 ’09 Covington, KY Madison Theater
Fri Jun 12 ’09 Manchester, TN Bonnaroo Music Festival
Sun Jun 14 ’09 Louisville, KY Brown Theatre
Mon Jun 15 ’09 Columbia, MO The Blue Note

    C’mon, Chicago!!!

I’m glad I didn’t bet the house on watching these tour dates unfold. 🙂

Indianapolis is a 2 hour drive from my house! Stevarino, are you going on a LU mini tour?

I was volunteering for WNKU last night, working a table to support the station, a Chris Smither show at a small singer songwriter type venue. I was telling a few patrons about Lu’s show at The Madison and tickets were going on sale this morning. One guy, from Lexington, KY, wrote down the information, thanking me for telling him. He told me he would see me at the show!

I’m stoked about all the midwest shows!

    Ya know Lafayette,

I just realized this week that we had rented a chalet in the Smokey Mountians the week Lucinda is in town. I checked the place we are staying, and they have an open week two weeks later than what we currently have booked. I called them and they are OK with making the switch. Ha, ha, I’m trying to figure out how to break it to the wifey that we need to reschedule for this show. I was actually thinking about the Indianapolis show too. Its not even a two hour drive.

Sounds like you need to take the wife out to dinner and break it over a nice meal, nice bottle of wine, flowers, a box of Godiva chocolates. That’s what I would do if I were you… 😆
