Well…I wasn’t planning on going. But, I couldn’t think of a really compelling reason not to.
Mrs. Lefty told me, Just Go. I went. Glad.

A nice, little breeze helped take the edge off the stickiness. I kept thinking a storm was coming. The only one last night originated on stage.

Maybe Lu got intoxicated from the heady mixture of fairgrounds dust, cannabis smoke, beer breath, patchouli oil and body odor – she & the guys seemed to hit their stride right from the start. Only one false start all night!!!

    1) Real Love…a nice attention-getter.

    2) 2 Kool…one of my favorites of the night.

    3) Tears of Joy…not my fave last night; seemed to kill the energy a bit, but no worries!

    4) Fruits of My Labor…I noticed a lot of talking going on around me during this one; reminded myself I was at a festival. Most probably had never heard of Lucinda. I think she won some converts.

    5) Right in Time…crowd seemed to dig Lu ‘moaning at the ceiling.’

Lu remark: “I love to see the enthusiasm!”
I was sitting in the very last row of the grandstand. There was a fairly large SRO area in front of the stage. Lu & crew were definitely feeding off what was going on down there.

    6) Drunken Angel…lightning way off in the distance behind the stage intensified; enough to coax oohs & aahs out of the crowd.

    7) Out of Touch…another one of my faves from last night; just plain good. Some nice stuff by Doug on this one.

Lu remark, gesturing to the crowd: “I wish the whole world could be like this right now. This is great!”

8 ) Little Rock Star…only false start of the night, about ¼ of the way in. No big deal this time. Lucinda said something like ‘I was in the wrong key'(?) “Let’s try this again,” she volunteered, and got a big cheer from the throng. Didn’t seem to fluster her at all. I liked the song better the second time.

It got progressively down ‘n’ dirty after that…

    9) Essence
    10) Come On
    11) Real Live Bleeding Fingers… (everybody air-guitar!)

    12) Honey Bee…a lot of vamping & prancing by Ms Williams as Doug, Chet, David & Butch cut loose.

    13) Joy…with the Heartbreaker riff. Doug & Chet squared off and started “dueling,” eventually shoving each other a few times with their shoulders as they played. Was waiting for Lu to dive into the mosh pit below and surf the crowd.

    14) Unsuffer Me…an almost-full moon was out by now and lent to the song’s spooky atmosphere. Butch beat the snot out of his kit on this one.

    15) Righteously…Lu remark: “You all are so sweet!” She was feeling the love.

    Encore:
    16) Are You Down…pretty spacey groove going on.
    17) It’s a Long Way to the Top…a nice send-off; put your hands in the air & clap!

“Peace, Love & Revolution,” she cried, and the people roared. 8)

😀 Thanks very much for that report from “fingers of lakes”, Lefty. Although I actually had tickets (and big plans — for a few days in that “gorge-ous” country), I wasn’t able to make it. (Had to listen to some live Lu downloads on the ipod last night as a consolation.) But now I feel like I was there in spirit. Sounds like a lovely show and like she felt very comfortable in the mellow, receptive crowd and beautiful setting. Glad you made it (wish I had). Thanks. 8)
