I see Mr. Stoger beat me to the punch regarding a post for tonight’s show. I also see we have visitors from out of town. Welcome. For those not in the know, this is a standing show; only limited seating at the bar or upstairs. Expect a long line outside before the doors open, which should be at 8 pm. There is a convenient parking lot directly across the street.

Just a note from a different perspective: unless you want a seat upstairs or at the bar, or unless you’re passionate about standing at the front of the stage, there’s no particular reason to stand in-line before the doors open. Per the Troubadour website, Lucinda’s set-time is 9:30.

You can arrive anytime before 9:30, and obtain a reasonable (though imperfect) standing location.

And a post which might unite Tony’s parking advice with Paul’s house wisdom: I once had a rental car towed from a residential street two blocks behind the Troubadour. Word to the wise. I walked outside after Anne mcCue’s opening set that night to “check” on my car; it was not in sight. Thus I spent the bulk of Dave Alvin’s main set calling a taxi, getting the vehicle out of hock, and reparking in Tony’s lot. No one needs to have that happen tonight. Get in house, establish your sightlines, and enjoy.

Quite a setlist tonyg, Thanks for your timely reporting.
Looking forward to the details on the new songs.

In the meantime here’s song # 2 “Can’t Let Go” (with some technical difficulties)

Thank you LWj. It took most of the song to figure out what was going on with Lu’s guitar. I think it turned out to be a cable.

My admonition against going to shows on weeknights once again went by the boards as I staggered home at 1:45 am. I am at work at 7 am after a most refreshing 4 hours sleep 🙄 . Luckily I had 2 diet cokes all night so there was no impairment factor. At least not from alcohol.

It was a good show. 2 hours long. Greg Leisz and Stuart Mathis in a twin guitar attack. Butch and David as per usual. Lu looked and sounded fantastic. The place was packed. Taking a cue from Paul from Los Angeles, I breezed in at 9:15 pm and took a seat in the loft. Lu introduced several new songs but the between song chatter of fans near me prevented me from hearing the titles on a few of them. The new songs were pretty strong.

I decided to go cutting edge and post the setlist directly into the forum post and saving it on preview until posting it. Once Lu dug into Get Right With God I cheerfully posted the set list as final and was quite happy with myself. To my horror, despite the show being over 1 hour and 50 minutes long, she then played Rockin in the Free World and I had to hastily edit my post. Note to self: don’t asume you know anything.

FF members Paul from Los Angeles and Grumpmama were in the house, as well as my new friends from Spain Victor and Mercedes. It was great to meet them finally. I hope they have a pleasant rest of their trip. Kudos to them for coming such a long way to see Lu. True fans. Great to see David, Tom, and Lu as always.

Speaking of, I won’t make another show until the Echoplex show. Carry on!

thanks for the good post, Tony. Can anyone add to the three (apparently new originals) titles between “Drunken Angel” and “Out of Touch.” Was “Walk On” the Neil Young cover, or a different original song?

The 3 songs as per tonyg:

    Burn Your Bridges (I think)…. Isn’t this a line from “Ugly Truth”-Blessed album ?
New song (didn’t catch the title)
Foolishness (not sure about this one

Here’s a quote from a recent Rolling Stone article on new songs.
Songs Williams cut include “Foolishness,” “Stow Away,” a Ray Bradbury-inspired song called “Something Wicked This Way Comes” and “Walk On,” which she says sounds like Brill Building-era Carole King. The sessions also yielded three interesting covers: J.J. Cale’s “Magnolia,” the Velvet Undergound’s “Pale Blue Eyes” and Bruce Springsteen’s “Factory.”

Thanks guy: we are getting there. Not all precincts have reported, but I’m sure voters grumpyM, Paulin LA, and our Spanish lovebirds will cast their hanging chads soon.

    G’morning you all !
“Burning Bridges” (potencial single from the next new double album), “Every thing but the truth” is the other new brand song we can heard yesterday night at the legendary Troubador and “Foolishness” the last one.
As legendary and brilliant was the concert and the sound pushed by two guitar axes like the local fella Greg Leisz and, like Lucinda says Stuart Mathis, courtesy of The Wallflowers.
Nice work for the openning band, Kenneth Brian with this particullary southern taste.
Pleased to be again in the USA and met old/good/forum/fans like PaulfromLosÁngeles and new ones like Grumpmama and TonyG.
Well, we went out from the venue at 3:00am and wake up four hours later to have breakfast and maybe to disappear into Amoeba’s store or drive to Mullholand Drive. We’re open to suggestions !
PS: “Keep on rockin’ in a free world” !

Check out the Griffith Park Observatory, Bigsubi. There is cool stuff there and a nice view of the city.

Also, Gia Ciambotti joined on-stage for vocals on the last 3 songs.

Thanks to the Troubadour for a VIP Loft pass–I had forgotten about the Loft in my earlier note. Good place to sit between songs–but folks do tend to chatter during the music.

My next show will be the Echoplex. I believe Victor and Mercedes will attend Hermosa Beach and Pomona.

And I can fill in with San Juan C & Solana Beach. Assists expected from the New Jerseyites and from grumpyM.
