I had the pleasure of see Tony Furtado last night at Zoey’s in Ventura. Tony is a banjo player and guitarist who lives in Portland Oregon and is presently on the road in the west. Accompanying Tony was a fiddle player named Luke Price, who was a national fiddle champion at age 12 and is now a 20 something graduate of Berklee School of Music and played some electric guitar too. They were extremely great together. To top it all off, the percussion player was none other than Jimmy Christie, former Love Band drummer extraordinaire!
LA peeps, they are also playing at The Mint Wednesday night at 10 pm. Don’t miss Tony if he comes to your town.
P.S. For those of you who saw the Sin City Tribute to Gram Parsons DVD from the Universal Amphiteater years ago, or saw it on TV, Tony was the banjo player who was on stage most of the night with Doug and Dusty and the others.
