I saw someone in another thread asking who “Rarity” was about but kept forgetting to post this (and I couldn’t remember how to spell her name when I was doing google searches haha)) so I am posting it now. Apologies if this has already been done, haven’t posted in awhile :). It is about Mia Doi Todd.

You know, it’s kind of funny, but you know who I think of now that I’ve listened to “Rarity” a few times?
Lucinda Williams.
Now, I know she in no way meant this song to be about herself, nor would she ever claim so – she is much too humble and modest. But, think about it. Who else other than Lu has not had the acclaim or the recognition from the public at large that she so rightly deserves? I think we all agree that Lu has the talent, the voice, the music and the poetry far above and beyond the commercial success she has attained to date. Granted, that may arguably be a blessing in disguise for a number of reasons, but nonetheless, I believe it is true.
Lu, “you deserve so much more.”
Now, I will definitely check out Mia Doi Todd – because I have that much respect for and faith in Lucinda’s opinion on music & art. But, I feel strongly that Lu is definitely in the same category of under-appreciated artists.
